Berkadia’s Affordable Housing group is a high-performing, dynamic team responsible for Berkadia’s national mortgage banking, investment sales, and tax credit syndication efforts within the affordable housing real estate market. The Director of Operations will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of Berkadia’s Affordable Housing group, reporting directly to the Head of Affordable Housing. The Director of Operations will support all production activity and organize business development initiatives, while facilitating communication and information across both the Affordable Housing group and the national Berkadia network. The Director of Operations will further assist the group’s production efforts, by leading and mentoring the group’s analysts, associates, and administrative support staff.
- Organize the Affordable Housing group’s mortgage banking, investment sales, and tax credit syndication production pipelines
- Support business development efforts and work with the production team to coordinate client calls, on-site meetings, events, and conferences
- Oversee the underwriting, marketing, and closing of all production originated by the Head of Affordable Housing
- Support Affordable Housing group producers with coordinating underwriting, marketing, and closing efforts as needed
- Work with Berkadia marketing specialists to maximize market awareness of Affordable Housing successes, including use of social media
- Mediate origination fee split discussions and referral fee programing
- Assist Affordable Housing group managing directors with team member performance evaluations
- Direct the Affordable Housing group’s pool of analysts and associates ensuring each individual receives the opportunity to work on a diverse cross-section of deal types and receives adequate opportunities to improve their respective skills
- Analyze third party reports, survey / title reports and insurance needs on each deal and check for consistency with underwriting package
- Review and monitor work completed by the group’s analysts and associates, providing coaching and assistance whenever needed
- Lead analyst and associate development efforts through coordination of internal or external training and development programs
- Build content and financial modeling to support the group’s strategic and analytical initiatives
- Implement corporate and group strategic initiatives, including translation of business rationale and tasks to others and design and monitoring of KPIs and milestones
- Educate the greater Berkadia network on the current state of affordable housing markets, while promoting the group’s services and experience
- Organize client data management
- Foster and structure lender relations
- Establish recruiting efforts for prospective analyst and associate candidates
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams throughout the Berkadia production network and support functions to successfully implement office-level corporate initiatives
- Actively engage with the company’s CRM efforts
- Monitor and approve expense report valuations related to the Affordable Housing group’s production team
- Performance of other managerial tasks as delegated by the Head of Affordable Housing

What is required for this role
- 10-12 years post-undergraduate experience with 4-6 post MBA
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in commercial real estate sales and financing specifically supporting investment sales and/or mortgage banking deal flows in an Analyst role or similar capacity
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience, preferably managing Real Estate Analysts, Associates and support staff
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
