The Roman Catholic Diocese of Nashville seeks qualified candidates for the position of Director of Human Resources. This key leadership position in the diocese’s Mission Support Office (MSO) directly supports the human resources activities of the MSO. Moreover, the Director of Human Resources serves the parishes and institutions throughout the diocese by helping them acquire, develop, engage, and retain the talented workforce necessary to fulfil the Mission: Living and Proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ, Welcoming All!
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Manages human resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, and counseling staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; designing systems; resolving problems; implementing change.
- Develops human resources operations financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; minimizing the impact of variances.
- Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analyzing information and applications.
- Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing diocesan guiding principles.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Assists in the development of diocesan strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to diocesan strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with diocesan objectives.
- Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention.
- Accomplishes special project results by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements; expediting fulfillment; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluating optional courses of action; changing assumptions and direction.
- Enhances department and diocesan reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree required, Masters’ preferred
- Human Resources professional certification required, SPHR preferred
- Ten or more years of HR experience required, including experience in Benefits Administration and Employee Relations either in a Specialist or Generalist capacity
- Five or more years of department head experience managing and supervising the employees of an HR department
