Position: Director of External Reporting

Description: Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert on US GAAP and SEC regulations for the preparation and/or review of all SEC reporting and will be the interface with external auditors. The candidate will also be charged with researching complex technical accountings issues, including foreign currency, joint ventures, and minority interest accounting transactions. This is a hands-on role and will require someone who is detail-oriented, able to work well under pressure, understands the importance of meeting internal and regulatory reporting deadlines, and is comfortable working with all levels of staff.

Primary responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Manage external financial reporting, including the preparation and/or review of all SEC forms
  • Prepare footnotes, management’s discussion and analysis, and all other components of the filings
  • Assist with the annual proxy preparation and shareholders’ reports
  • Provide technical expertise to the organization on the treatment of complex accounting issues, including foreign currency translation, joint ventures, and minority interest accounting transactions
  • Preparation of accounting memos and white papers related to complex accounting issues
  • Coordinate and oversee the management of external auditors as they progress through their review of the Company’s draft 10-Q/10-K disclosures
  • Prepare and/or review US GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists for each 10-Q/10-K filing
  • Assist with ad hoc projects

Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s, preferably an MBA, in accounting or finance with a CPA, a minimum of 10 years of SEC reporting and technical accounting experience, 7-10 years of audit-related experience in a large publicly-traded environment, and experience working with foreign currency, joint ventures, and minority interest accounting.

Job Type: Full-time (overtime may be required during quarter and annual close)
