The Budget Director reports to the Assistant Vice President for Budget Management and has responsibility for the following: ? Direct supervision of associated professional staff ? Planning, overseeing and developing the University’s annual operating budget ? Implementing Commonwealth biennial budget process ? Developing systems and procedures to facilitate monitoring of revenues and expenditures through multi-year financial modeling and analysis ? Working with complex data sets and analytical tools in support of financial planning ? Demonstrating continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service ? Coordinating the development, completion and review of state reports ? Ensuring compliance with relevant state and university rules and regulations ? Performing all other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Required: ? Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field ? Minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in budget preparation, performing financial analysis and forecasting along with at least 3 years as a supervisor ? Knowledge of principles and practices of fund accounting and budgeting as well as experience in a higher educational organization ? Ability to deliver value-added business analysis with financial and operational metrics to support executive-level decision-making ? Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communications skills, with ability to collaborate and communicate effectively at all organizational levels ? Ability to present and explain complex concepts and financial models ? Demonstrated experience in prioritizing heavy workload, meeting deadlines, managing multiple priorities and ability to apply creativity and originality in problem solving ? Ability to complete work assignments with considerable independence in judgment and initiative in making technical and supervisory decisions and in determining work assignments and priorities ? Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications ? Demonstrated high degree of ethics, integrity, honesty and respect for confidential information ? Ability to work collaboratively and provide excellent customer service Preferred: ? Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field or a CPA ? Advanced knowledge and experience working with Oracle PeopleSoft applications ? Demonstrated skills in the initiation and development of comprehensive, long-range resource projections and university planning ? Leadership skills in addressing diverse problems ? Possess global perspective and understanding of campus funding policies, priorities and funding requirements ? Experience in building and maintaining collaborative working relationships among diverse stakeholders and working collaboratively with committees ? Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with university employees, students and other stakeholders ? Expertise in applying computer technology as a problem solving tool in financial analysis, budgetary management and other administrative functions and situations
