The Director of Brand and Creative Services serves as the primary strategic and creative visionary for the ANA Enterprise, applying his/her skills and knowledge in the development, execution and delivery of outstanding visual content for a variety of audiences via the web, social media, video, photo and print vehicles.
The Director will work directly with ANA Enterprise leaders and stakeholders to foster a fully integrated communication environment and create impactful brand experiences.
He/she is responsible for recommending and building new Enterprise capacities and capabilities. This scope includes overseeing the development, promotion, and protection of the ANA Enterprise and entities’ brands and reputation among internal and external constituents; including all creative work related to the creation of digital and printed materials, ensuring the overall quality of the department portfolio; supervising and collaborating with (internal and external) designers, artists, printers, web experts, photographers, videographers and social/digital media creators; supervisory oversight of the ANA Enterprise’s image library and art direction of new photography and videography; providing leadership and direction to the creative team along with strategic partners from across the ANA Enterprise. This position requires the ability to lead and participate in a collaborative creative process, as well as to manage a high volume of work while navigating shifting priorities of various partners. The Director must bring a creative mindset, excellent communication skills, strong planning, project and resource management skills and a flexible, solutions-oriented approach to ensure the team produces consistently superior work.
DUTIES:
Brand Strategy & Management:
- Serve as brand champion and leader of brand management for ANA Enterprise and entities.
- Direct strategy and brand vision with senior leadership and internal stakeholders
- Leverage brand research and audience insights to identify, develop, strengthen and evolve brand identity across platforms
- Oversee the creation, distribution, updating and training of ANA Enterprise-wide brand and style guidelines. Maintain the ANA Enterprise’s graphic identity program and other brand assets and resources;
- Ensure brand guidelines and usage are in line with policy and legal compliance in partnership with the Office of the General Counsel.
- Provide art direction for ANA Enterprise-wide projects. Evaluate creative work. Advise and provide direction to team members, collaborating in the design and video creation process;
- Conceptualize and/or produce or supervise production of a wide range of collateral projects (print and digital) including but not limited to brochures, flyers, presentation graphics, environmental signage, e-newsletter templates, website design/graphics, social media graphics, video and photography. Provide review of all printed and digital materials and communications. Make modifications and suggestions to ensure materials are of highest quality and greatest appeal;
- Manage projects from inception to delivery; Produce content with both speed and accuracy; assess data to inform future initiatives.
Digital and Campaign Content:
- Translate brand strategies into creative storytelling and engagement campaigns across multiple media platforms;
- Manage own portfolio of print and digital design projects, as well as overseeing other projects. Candidates will be required to submit a portfolio with their application that includes print and digital work.
Staff Development:
- Communicate concepts, ideas, vision into actionable assignments and project guidelines for staff;
- Hire, train, manage and develop staff knowledge and skill sets to provide the most advantageous mix to meet current project deliverables; supervise student interns, as needed.
- Make recommendations about ways to increase the capacity and skill set of the department to match seasonal and other workload demands
Vendor Relationships:
- Manage and maintain the performance and deliverables of third-party vendors/and or freelance contributors;
- Monitor projects and make recommendations about vendor relationships to best meet the need of stakeholders.
Departmental Team Leadership:
- Regularly meet with the Vice President of Communications and other department leaders along with pertinent professional staff members to contribute to departmental direction;
- Uphold and promote the department’s mission and priorities within the department and ANA Enterprise;
- Manage budget development/ resource allocations for brand and creative services
- Report regularly to supervisor and senior leadership on brand and creative services related initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, digital design, graphic communications or related field.
Related Work Experience
- Seven to ten years of experience in graphic arts, digital/interactive design, and project management in a deadline-driven environment required.
- Must have at least three years of supervisory experiences and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with brand strategy and with socializing, managing and enforcing brand guidelines
- Experience must be evidenced by a portfolio of print and digital work.
- Successful cross-team collaboration toward mutual goals
Skills
- Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills regarding both online and offline communication solutions (branding, messaging, marketing, design, typography, photography, animation, video, audio, and programming).
- Experience working with external vendors and ability to match the appropriate skills to projects, including photography and design.
- Experience managing integrated marketing projects and digital asset and project management systems.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud required.
- Knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
- Knowledge of current design and brand industry best practices and trends.
- Must be proactive, self-directed, and results-oriented, with the ability to define and execute projects independently.
- Must possess excellent time management skills and have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities and meet deadlines.
