ASSISTANT MANAGER

Summary/Objective
The Assistant Manager positively impacts customer growth and revenue and ensures store credit is maintained at an appropriate level through sales activities, account management while providing total customer satisfaction. This role helps manage profit by following established policies and procedures including, but not limited to, cash and inventory controls and order verifications. The Assistant Manager accomplishes these in a way that is consistent with the RAC mission statement and core values.

Essential Functions

Sales:
1. Be responsible for Customer and Revenue growth/maintenance
2. Greet and assist customers on the sales floor
3. Obtain new rental orders on the sales floor and over the phone
4. Complete rental agreements as required
5. Prospect for new business by telemarketing and distributing print materials
6. Keep coworkers informed of promotions and products

Account
1. Maintain accurate records of customer account activity, to include current and
Management: past due accounts
2. Review past due accounts and communicate in-person and via phone with the customers to promote timely payments
3. Collect customer payments on a timely basis and meet daily/weekly collection standards
4. Complete customer service calls in a timely manner as assigned
5. Follow all policies and procedures and adhere to all standards

Store Supervision:
1. Assist Store Manager with training and providing oversight in absence of Store
Manager
2. Assign coworkers to specific duties and assist with work schedule assignments
3. Assist in managing daily operations when necessary
4. Assist Store Manager in making weekly schedules

Showroom and Backroom
1. Refurbish merchandise to like new condition
2. Keep showroom, backroom, and all store areas neat, clean and organized, areas: including vacuuming, dusting, and handling household cleaning materials
3. Assist as needed in loading/unloading truck, or other vehicle, per policy to safely
Pick-ups: protect coworkers, customers, and merchandise
4. Assist as needed in delivering merchandise in Company provided vehicle to customer homes
5. Assist as needed in installing and setting up merchandise, and instructing customers on proper use
6. Assist as needed in picking up merchandise from customer homes
7. Complete customer service calls in a timely manner as assigned
8. Follow Company policies and practices regarding safe driving and adhere to local and state laws regarding safe operation of a motor vehicle

Required Education and Experience

  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 – 3 years of retail/customer service, sales, or collections experience
  • Valid state driver’s license and good driving record

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a coworker to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the coworker is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The coworker must frequently lift and/or move (push/pull) heavy items and merchandise. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position (approximately 38 – 40 hours per week), and days and hours of work are
Monday through Saturday, store open to close hours. Schedules and hours per week/overtime work may change throughout the year as dictated by management and business needs.
