    POSITION TITLE:  Assistant General Manager

    REPORTS TO:  General Manager

    The assistant general manager assists the general manager in providing high quality, courteous, efficient service to all guests, executes delegated responsibilities, and serves as the general manager in the absence of the Property GM.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Along with the General Manager, trains all employees
    • Participates in the recruiting of front office personnel
    • Evaluates the job performance of each front office employee
    • Maintains working relationships and communicates with all departments
    • Assists the general manager in obtaining compliance with all Company and brand policies, standards, and procedures
    • Works with the general manager on sales leads and RFPs
    • Group sales set-up along with the general manager, including sending out group sales contracts, wedding blocks, and bus tours
    • Performs all front desk job functions, as needed
    • Performs laundry job functions, as needed
    • Performs breakfast attendant job functions, as needed
    • Oversees pool/spa testing and maintenance at general manager’s discretion
    • Is on call to ensure proper operation of the hotel. May also be required to call or stop at the hotel to confirm that it is operating properly.
    • Accepts all hotel duties and responsibilities of the general manager in his/her absence.
    • Along with the general manager, takes care of guest concerns in a timely manner.
    • Wears the proper uniform at all times. Requires all front office employees to wear proper uniforms at all times.
    • Ensure that employees are, at all times, attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests managers and other employees.
    • Must be able to perform all duties of guest services representatives, night auditor, laundry staff, room attendants, maintenance persons, breakfast host.
    • Performs additional duties or responsibilities delegated by the general manager

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum 2 years of hotel industry experience AND 2 years of supervisor / leadership experience
    • Basic computer skills
    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Prior experience using Microsoft Office required. Must display ability to work with general computer operations, including reservations software.
    • Extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services, and facilities.
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Able to work weekends and holidays
    • Previous experience in using Hotel management software
