The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking an experienced strategic development Vice President to lead the development national consumer group. This individual will identify new opportunities to grow portfolio engagement to increase revenue, including, corporate partnerships, commercial co-ventures, social enterprises, and sponsorships. This successful VP candidate will lead and steward a portfolio of executive level national corporate relationships and work as a team leader to drive growth to achieve our ADA mission and revenue goals.
This position is accountable for significant revenue targets and will be accountable for the strategic implementation of nationwide initiatives with national retail chains , insurance companies, consumer technology companies, and nutritional companies. This successful candidate will manage a Strategic Development group that will work cross-functional with the ADA executive team, the home office staff, the Mission team members, the MarCom team and our field TVP leadership and regional teams to drive growth to achieve our mission.
Through effective leadership, creativity and strong business acumen, this executive will lead his/her teams to increase corporate relationships, meet national fundraising goals, facilitate/assist the markets in meeting their fundraising goals and build awareness for the American Diabetes Association.
1)To set the organization’s strategy related to the assigned Strategic Development groups , 2) identify partner and business development opportunities to advance the organization’s mission, 3) serve as the executive leader on all national industry relationships 4) lead a team responsible for securing annual funding from national partners, 5) develop and steward industry relationships, and 6) monitor industry trends and implement an evolving partnership strategy.
The ideal candidate must have a proven track-record of success in corporate fundraising, business development, commercial co-venture/social enterprise development and relationship management. Exceptional organizational, written and verbal communication skills are necessary for this position. Must have ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and achieve results in a team environment. The ideal candidate must have experience leading high performing account teams and have a strong record of strategic planning and implementation.
- Identify and cultivate relationships across both non-health care and healthcare sectors (Fitbit, Amazon, PBM’s, Insurers, Employers, Fortune 500) in collaboration with staff account teams across the Association.
- Experience selling within the consumer related and retail related companies/industries is recommended.
- Experience in leading high performing sales or development teams is a must
- Develop a portfolio of new opportunities, including revenue projections and financial analysis.
- Provide strategic leadership, creating and executing fundraising strategies to annually from corporations; work to grow additional avenues of corporate revenue.
- Manage a team of high performing corporate development professionals.
- Implement and refine a strategy for the Association’s leveraging of and partnering with the key corporate organizations
- Partner with staff across the organization to execute the above strategy and to vet, develop and secure support and collaboration with relevant companies.
- Lead internal communication of progress and trends in for monthly business goals and strategy
- Develop and support a new Corporate Advisory Council across all corporate customer groups
- Lead the development of annual business plan to meet financial targets and mission delivery metrics.
- Serve as a key executive VP member of the strategic development team to share monthly updates with the ADA’s Executive Team.
- Oversee and coordinate stewardship activities related to key companies and their leadership; ensure a high-touch response to partners.
- Ensure compliance with ADA policies, including, risk management, and financial controls
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 8-10 years of non-profit, fundraising and/or sales
- Track-record of success in account management and developing corporate partnerships which exceeded revenue targets
- Knowledge of product marketing/sales concepts
- Outcome driven with ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities
- Ability to manage and motivate groups and individuals
- Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Self- starter with an entrepreneurial drive
- Ability to travel
