King’s Hawaiian, the family-owned company best known for its line of Original Recipe Hawaiian Sweet Bread, is seeking a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis to manage the process of budgeting, forecasting, and analysis in order to strategically support optimal decision making by senior management. King’s Hawaiian is a fast-growing $400 million plus business with headquarters, restaurants and manufacturing facilities located in Torrance, CA, and Oakwood, GA. This position, located in the company’s Torrance offices, reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

- Leads financial support activities for all segments of the business, including Sales, Operations, Distribution and SG&A
- Collaborates with the CFO and management across the organization to develop the annual plan and monthly forecasts by operational group. This process includes directing the development of templates for data, processes and timelines for accurate budget preparation and communication with management team. Serves as architect of and advocate for annual budget.
- Leads analysis of results compared to annual plan and monthly forecasts. Oversees adjustments to forecast and communicates adjustments to the management team.
- Prepares and delivers monthly presentations about financial performance to the Executive Leadership Team.
- Partners closely with the Controller and the Accounting Team on monthly close, variance analysis, cash flow forecasting, capital expenditure reporting and other recurring requirements
- Leads development of financial models, analyses of projected earnings and short-term and long-term cash forecasts to support strategic initiatives.
- Oversees financial partnership on project teams evaluating new product introductions and other strategic initiatives.
- Provides accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes by analyzing financial information and reports.
- Partners closely with Director of International Business Development to develop and execute business plan for Latin American expansion. Serves as director’s liaison with U.S-based staff to ensure alignment of U.S. operations – especially manufacturing and logistics – with needs of Latin American business.
- Plays a key role in financial and estate planning for Taira Family shareholders. Responsibilities include dividend and distribution planning and coordination with outside lawyers and advisors on numerous estate planning activities.
- Assists Accounting Team with corporate governance activities, including preparing and presenting materials to Board of Directors and its subcommittees.
- Develops a strong understanding of drivers of product demand and key markets.
- Performs statistical analysis of data to identify trends, insights, and support the forecasting efforts.
- Analyzes and monitors current and past trends in key performance indicators, including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures. Analyzes causes of unexpected variance.
- Performs industry or peer group comparison to identify trends in the market.
- Critical thinking partner with an eye towards financial impact in areas such as S&OP (Supply and Operations Planning), new product development, new customer analysis and new markets
- Oversees compliance with all aspects of credit agreement, including debt covenant forecasting and reporting.
- Primary liaison with lenders to provide analysis and business updates and to respond to requests from them.
- Leads and develops a small team of financial analysts
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA highly preferred
- 10-12 years of experience in Financial Planning and Analysis
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, MAS500 a plus
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Must be able to serve as both department leader and individual contributor as tasks and business needs require.
