POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President of Finance is responsible for all financial matters of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri (PPSLRSWMO) and its affiliated organizations. The VP of Finance will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The VP of Finance will partner with the CEO, Senior Executive Team, and Board of Directors Audit & Finance Committee to develop and implement financial and business strategies for PPSLRSWMO. The Vice President of Finance will lead efforts to secure PPSLRSWMO financial strength in a dynamic healthcare environment. The Vice President of Finance will direct the finance department and revenue control consultants. Through leadership, collaboration, and direct supervision of key staff and independent consultants, the VP of Finance will help PPSLRSWMO expand services, increase revenue, and improve internal efficiencies consistent with the mission, values, and policies of PPSLRSWMO.
The individual will lead financial strategy as a true business partner to the CEO and must demonstrate evidence of broad financial and business experience, ideally in a nonprofit healthcare environment. Qualifications include the experience and demonstrated ability to:
PRIMARY DUTIES PERFORMED
Lead all financial strategies. Help develop and implement PPSLRSWMO’s strategic plan, provide annual budgets to facilitate plan goals, and assess PPSLRSWMO’s performance against the annual budget and its long term strategic plan
Analyze the business impact of major strategic and / or investment decisions ensuring effective communication to the Senior Executive Team and the Audit and Finance Committee
Manage all banking, insurance, and investment affairs. Manage PPSLRSWMO banking relationships, borrowing functions, investing activities, and insurance programs. Closely monitor investments with external investment officer
Execute management and leadership. Demonstrate exceptional collaboration skills, plus ability to conceptualize, develop, implement and manage teams, programs, and policies
Collaborate closely with the CEO to monitor changes in the healthcare landscape to ensure that PPSLRSWMO maintains a strong and sustainable financial position
Foster the analysis into and development of financially sustainable collaborations and partnerships. Lead evaluation of opportunities to partner with other Planned Parenthood affiliates and external providers
Lead analysis and implementation of capital plans and property acquisitions
Develop or update and manage all policies relating to finance, accounting, internal financial controls, cash management, and related functions in accordance with accepted practices and external requirements of funding entities, plus license and accrediting agencies
Keep up to date on laws and regulations that affect PPSLRSWMO funding and operation
Prepare and analyze all financial, statistical, and forecasting reports, assuring that said reports are accurately compiled and presented on a timely basis
Review all government funding applications and contracts, manage financial reporting to government and foundation contracts
Assist in securing and maintaining private insurance and Medicaid health insurance contracts
Identify and capture new revenue sources. Make recommendations for implementing cost reduction programs
Analyze and facilitate increased understanding of financial information by the CEO, Senior Executive Team, and Audit and Finance Committee
Explore and assist launch of new functional areas aligned with the organization’s mission and vision to expand service scope, breadth, and modalities
Support leadership team processes for monitoring performance, including the development of standard reports for reviewing and guiding implementation of new initiatives
RISK MANAGEMENT AND QUALITY ASSURANCE
Establishes and assures compliance with organizational policies that:
Ensure the provision of the highest quality and most professional service deliver to all Planned Parenthood clients;
Protect Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri assets from liability;
Ensure the physical safety of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri clients, staff and volunteers;
Protects confidentiality of all Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri clients, donors, Board and all areas of operation;
Follow HIPAA privacy and security guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field. Preferred minimum of eight years’ experience, knowledge of non-profit healthcare accounting. Minimum of eight years of Supervisory skills and management experience.
Highly motivated. Excellent mathematical skills. Ability to organize, plan, and evaluate. Proactive and strategic thinker. Analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual skills a plus, particularly Spanish, Serbo-Croatian or Vietnamese.
Ability to travel throughout the region; some evenings and weekend work may be required. Demonstrated leadership in maintaining positive employee relations. Strong commitment to the mission, goals and values of Planned Parenthood and the ability to communicate those goals and agency values to employees, volunteers, applicants and community contacts.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents, including financial, healthcare and non-profit laws and regulations. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or Board of Directors. Excellent written communication skills, phone and computer skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to prepare and monitor annual affiliate budget.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
