Your impact as a Vice President, Global Public Affairs

The VP Global Public Affairs will work cross-functionally with the business to develop Aon’s strategic position on global regulatory, legislative and government matters while keeping the business and stakeholders informed of the changing landscape. We are seeking an individual who has relevant government, political, campaigns or public advocacy experience. This person will have a proven track record of working with a variety of diverse stakeholders to build relationships, attain support and solve complex problems


Job Responsibilities:

  • Create the political, regulatory and legislative strategy for the firm
  • Execute strategy to both protect the firm from unhelpful legislation and create the opportunity to grow commercial opportunities for the firm.
  • Advise senior leaders on political and regulatory strategy
  • Advise senior leaders on business adverse or business positive legislation under consideration.
  • Identify new regional based legislation/rulemaking and acts as necessary to positively influence outcome.
  • Identify governmental risks in the business, and puts plans in place to reduce, minimize or eliminate those risks.
  • Manage contract lobbyist and consultants as necessary.
  • Responsible for managing a team of three which includes being a role model who develops others by providing timely feedback and coaching
  • Instill a can-do and collaborative culture that connects across teams and Aon
  • As a senior member of the global law and compliance organization, partner with other law leaders on strategic functional initiatives


You Bring Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in political science or other relevant area; and/or
  • Minimum 15 years of work experience. Federal or state legislative experience, corporate experience highly preferred.
  • Experience working on public affairs matters outside the US (e.g., the UK, EMEA, APAC) a plus.
  • Strong focus on public policy, lobbying, issues management, and government relations. Knowledge of the insurance industry a plus.
  • Knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and influence senior business leaders.
  • A track record of working with elected and appointed officials to proactively attain support for policy, political or business priorities.
  • Strong research, analytical, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
