*THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO VDOT AGENCY EMPLOYEES ONLY.* The Richmond District is seeking to fill a Traffic Device Manager position to manage state force Roadway Lighting, Pavement Marking and Sign installation crews. Responsibilities include developing and overseeing the Richmond Districts Roadway Lighting, Pavement Marking and signing maintenance plan and replacement needs. You will manage the departments IMS stock location, adhere to purchasing requirements, and meet established IMS goals. This position will provide leadership to CRO Asset Management by utilizing available resources, and best business practices to provide a safe and efficient transportation system through the use of various traffic control devices (TCD) such as signs, pavement markings, and roadway lighting. You will ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws governing traffic operations; provide services expected to result in a transportation network; and develop/manage workforce, long-range strategic plans, organizational initiatives and budgets. This position will oversee financial functions of the Operations work unit, respond to audit findings, and correct irregularities.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will have: ? Knowledge of traffic control device specifications, standards, and policies ? Knowledge of business principles/practices as related to inventory and accounting systems ? Knowledge of federal and state roadway and transportation rules, regulations, and policies ? Ability to understand and apply safety standards and procedures for personnel in the operation of equipment and performance of work tasks. ? Ability to develop and monitor various budgets and procurement activities ? Ability to plan, direct, supervise, and evaluate the work of others ? Ability to read roadway plans ? Ability to effectively communicate with general public, property owners, contractors, and VDOT personnel ? Valid driver’s license required

Preferred Qualifications

? Experience in the transportation system to include engineering principles, practices, and procedures ? Knowledge of engineering and construction technology to effectively oversee and administer residency maintenance and operation programs and workforce development ? Ability to analyze needs, problems, identify solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations ? Coursework in the field of traffic engineering, traffic management, or highway design preferred or equivalent training/experience may substitute for education ? VDOT certification in pavement marking inspection

Special Requirements

References, work history and DMV records will be verified prior to employment. Fingerprint-based background check required. Position is designated as essential to emergency operations and will be required to work outside normal work hours to ensure the safety of the traveling public. Telework options to be determined by manager according to business need.
