The Technology Executive Leader of Enterprise Back Office Systems will influence and guide business decisions, empower and enable their teams to deliver quality custom-developed and third-party software, and evangelize technology and investment in back office systems. This leader of leaders will interact daily with senior leaders of Team Member Services (HR), Accounting, Finance, Legal and Business Development. The right candidate will lead key areas of business technology by driving and fostering innovative thinking, clear and effective communication, learning and continuous improvement, and realizing the full potential of Whole Foods Marketâs customer-centric back office technology solutions.
Essential Duties:
- Lead a team that guides the technical delivery and application architecture of HRIS, Finance and Accounting, Legal and Business Development Technologies
- Demonstrate knowledge and respect of Whole Foods Marketâs Core Values and Leadership Principles through leadership style and management philosophy
- Champion exploration of new ideas, capabilities, and technology that can improve the experience and capabilities of our business partners
- Partner with key stakeholders to understand and balance the needs of multiple, cross-functional teams and end-users to address business challenges and needs
- Maintain a Technology and Capability Roadmap that informs strategy, investment, and continuous improvement opportunities
- Work with business partners and product managers to prioritize and deliver on the highest strategic value
- Optimize delivery capabilities for multiple teams and multiple applications through identification and removal of constraints which prevent teams from accomplishing the highest level of delivery quality and speed
- Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Responsible for software portfolio management including software vendor selection and vendor relationship management
- Provide leadership and coaching to people leaders and individual contributors
- Mentor team members to help create career development paths based on individual motivations and company needs
- Recruit and conduct interviews of potential team members and participate in hiring decisions
- Maintain precise and accurate budgets and forecasts, including salary and bonus planning
- Respect and foster team autonomy
- Provide, accept, and integrate feedback
Required Skills/Experience
- Bachelorâs Degree in technology, business or a related field
- 10+ years of experience as a software delivery manger or equivalent experience with enterprise applications at scale
- 10+ years of back office application management experience
- Strong grasp of quantitative and qualitative assessment and the ability to leverage this data to inform product direction
- Demonstrated success defining and launching exceptional products
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once while focused on achieving deadlines
- Success working in a team environment, including interfacing with remote groups
- Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience leading medium to large teams of cross functional technologists and engineers
Preferred Skills/Experience (Any of these is a plus):
- Knowledge of Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Scrum
- Deep knowledge of current HR and/or Finance enterprise technologies; experience with Office 365 and Workday highly desired
- Knowledge of finance and accounting application best practices
- Experience working in an AWS environment
