SUMMARY

This position works with all departments to develop and enhance a culture of consistent safe behavior. This position serves as a subject expert to ensure compliance with Safety & Health standards. In addition, this person must observe, track, and complete activities with employees, to reduce and eliminate work related injuries and accidents to support our safety and sustainability goals.

This person must maintain comprehensive filing system for documents pertaining to compliance with OSHA. The Safety manager will serve as the location representative for Health and Safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure Compliance with OSHA standards plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, federal (OSHA) rules and regulations
  • Be an active part of the team to plan, direct and implement organizational safety programs and initiatives
  • Conduct proactive, action- based programs to reduce or eliminate work related accidents or injuries.
  • Ensure, communicate and facilitate safety related training.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  • Assists with and train supervisors on proper accident investigations for all work- related injuries and provide reports to local and upper management.
  • Performs all job site analysis, determine employee exposure, and assist in developing safe work policies, procedures and inspection report forms.
  • Performs new hire safety orientation training.
  • Monitors safety work orders and helps ensure completion of those items.
  • Publish safety audit tracking form which includes audits, cross audits, audits done with hourly employees, positive reinforcement, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
  • Maintains and updates all safety records such as: injuries, illnesses, safety statistics, authorized safety training, using spreadsheets, graphs, charts and presentations as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Degree in Safety or related engineering discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Safety Professional Certification, preferred

Experience: 3+ years’ related experience and /or training; prior safety management experience; strong knowledge of safety, health laws, regulations. Strong knowledge and experience w/leading Machine Guarding, LOTO, Fall Protection programs.

Special Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, data driven with and affinity for data management and organization. Conducts Risk Analysis and Coordinates Actions to remove or mitigate issues. Ensures reporting and response to governmental agencies are met and business interest are protected.

Communication Skills: Effective verbal & writing skills to present ideas and concepts to diverse audiences from front-line to plant leadership level. Must be very organized and maintain all safety records. Must be detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.

Travel: Two or more trips per year.
