Summary
Custom Truck One Source has an opening for Production Manager with background in heavy and light duty trucks and equipment. The Production Manager will be responsible for communicating company goals, safety practices, and deadlines to a team. To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to motivate team members, provide help on training and development needs, and monitor team performance. They will be responsible for overseeing production to ensure products are completed on time and perform up to company standards.
- Create and enforce a safe working environment.
- Identify ways to improve safety, quality, and productivity in the production process.
- Communicate with parts and production team to improve operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and overall profitability.
- Create descriptive repair orders so all parties can understand the build.
- Communicate with multiple departments on when builds will occur and notify them of any changes in the production schedule
- Schedule the production shop with upcoming builds by understand build priorities and parts/chassis delivery dates and efficiently allocate time spent on repair orders.
- Communicate expected completion dates with the customer and salesperson as well as answer any questions about the build
- Conduct morning meetings to discuss production schedules and deadlines as well as activities and problems of mutual interest and to develop strategies for a more efficient operation.
- Communicate and monitor employees in the production department, assign tasks to employees, and verify that the job is being done correctly.
- Provide technical assistance to production department employees.
- Monitor hours on jobs to ensure we are hitting quoted build times.
- Work with parts to verify all necessary components are applied to the repair order.
- Continually update our scheduling system and status report to monitor shop capacities.
- Work with our outside vendors to get pricing and schedule services to be completed.
- Invoice the repair order and send the invoice to the customer.
- Responsible for employee training and development, hiring new technicians, payroll, monitoring employee performance, and maintaining shop and equipment.
- Direct technicians in their functions and make plans for their future training and development.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Provide quality control guidance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Associates degree or other relevant college degree
- Non-Degreed: 3 years proven experience in a similar role
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, physical and audiogram.
- Knowledge of heavy and light duty trucks and equipment
- Previous managerial experience
- Valid Driverâs License required (Valid Class B CDL required within 90 days of employment)
- Extremely detail oriented and accurate
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Setting priorities and adapting to changing work priorities.
- Must be self-sufficient and driven.
- Meeting deadlines and schedules.
- Strong attendance record
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing a positive service experience. This includes internal client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- General mechanical aptitude and experience with parts required. Knowledge of hydraulic, heavy equipment, diesel truck and/or farm equipment preferred.
- General aptitude in working with common computer software (MS Office Suite, internet, etc.) to process orders. Knowledge of inventory software (FishBowl, etc.) to process purchase orders and tracking inventory helpful.
Working Conditions
- The ability to work as scheduled with punctual attendance 7:30 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday plus any additional hours/days necessary in order to meet business demands.
- Majority of work performed in shop.
- May be exposed to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or fumes.
- Ability to see things in close proximity whether through natural or corrected vision.
- The ability to bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling
