Job Summary

Provides vision, executive leadership and management to advance the mission of Land of Lincoln Goodwill Industries (LLGI). Develops and promotes effective services and operations within the purposes and guidelines set forth in the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws and policies of LLGI.

Essential Job Duties

  • As an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors, attends all meetings of the Board of Directors and all standing or other committees; keeps Board informed of activities of the agency.
  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures governing the operation of LLGI that are in compliance with the bylaws and policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Directors.
  • Develops and recommends to the Board of Directors both short and long term goals of LLGI; develops and proposes annual budget to accomplish those goals.
  • In collaboration with leadership staff and the Board of Directors, develops and implements a strategic plan.
  • Selects, develops, motivates and manages staff and employees to ensure maximum productivity.
  • Develops, directs and monitors quality programs to provide services for the populations served by LLGI; ensures accreditation and licensing by appropriate agencies.
  • Ensures the organization has suitable facilities and equipment to execute an efficient donated goods retail operation and programs and services that are in alignment with LLGI’s mission, vision and values.
  • Manages and develops financial resources of LLGI in a manner that ensures fiscal stability and accountability to the Board of Directors and other appropriate bodies, and that provides for the growth and enhancement of programs and operations.
  • Provides an executive presence in the LLGI territory which reinforces LLGI’s credibility and promotes its programs and their impact; solicits and obtains community support and partnerships; represents and promotes LLGI through participation in organizations and groups.
  • Leads with vision to the future for change, opportunities, mission and business development.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with appropriate local, state and national officials and organizations including Goodwill Industries International.
  • Advocates and promotes the organization to stakeholders.
  • Adheres to high ethical standards as outlined in the Principles of Conduct for Goodwill CEO’s.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications

Education, Experience and Credentials

Requires a bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred.

Requires ten years experience at the policy level with progressively responsible management/leadership experience in a multi-functional organization.

Requires five years experience in general business, retail or industrial operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Requires demonstrated knowledge of philosophy, principles and practices of not-for-profit management as well as the ability to manage a complex donated goods retail operation.

Requires thorough knowledge of principles and polices of accounting and fiscal management.

Requires a high level of professionalism, integrity, business conduct and ethical behavior.

Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.

Requires effective interpersonal, problem solving and negotiating skills.

Requires ability to maintain accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

Requires CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within six months of employment.

Requires basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.

Requires a valid driver’s license, safe driving record and proof of insurance.

Requires ability to travel throughout the LLGI territory.

Requires effective verbal and written communication skills to present information to a variety of audiences.

Maintains confidentiality of information related to LLGI operations, financial matters and personnel matters.

Interacts with people with disabilities in a manner which enhances their dignity, privacy and confidentiality.

Demonstrates sensitivity and the ability to communicate with a diverse population.
