Job Purpose
The Plant Manager will oversee the daily operations of a locomotive re-manufacturing facility. The Plant Manager will develop processes to maximize People, Quality, Cost and Velocity.
Key Job Elements
- Responsible for overall management of locomotive and engine repair facility and various shifts;
- Ensure Employee Safety
- Supervise hourly employees such as CNC Machinist, Machine Operators, Mechanics and Rail Track Assemblers;
- Ability to resolve employee and customer issues.
- Experience assessing production priorities/issues and adjusting resources to maintain customer delivery requirements;
- Manage multiple customer requirements;
- On-time, on budget delivery of finished products;
- Ability to effectively utilize resources.
Education / Training
Required:
- Bachelorâs degree in technical field.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5-10 years of experience in heavy industrial environment (100+ employees) , preferably locomotive repair, with previous experience as a front-line supervisor;
- Proven leadership and communication skills;
- Experience in estimating, developing and budgeting compliance both labor and materials;
- Strong background in Lean Manufacturing including: process flow, 5S, inventory reduction, and budget mapping;
- Engaging personality with good verbal and written communications skills;
- Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and customers;
- Proficient with PC applications including Microsoft Office;
- Second language fluency is considered a plus.
