Job Purpose

The Plant Manager will oversee the daily operations of a locomotive re-manufacturing facility. The Plant Manager will develop processes to maximize People, Quality, Cost and Velocity.

Key Job Elements

• Responsible for overall management of locomotive and engine repair facility and various shifts;

• Ensure Employee Safety

• Supervise hourly employees such as CNC Machinist, Machine Operators, Mechanics and Rail Track Assemblers;

• Ability to resolve employee and customer issues.

• Experience assessing production priorities/issues and adjusting resources to maintain customer delivery requirements;

• Manage multiple customer requirements;

• On-time, on budget delivery of finished products;

• Ability to effectively utilize resources.

Education / Training

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in technical field.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in heavy industrial environment (100+ employees) , preferably locomotive repair, with previous experience as a front-line supervisor;

• Proven leadership and communication skills;

• Experience in estimating, developing and budgeting compliance both labor and materials;

• Strong background in Lean Manufacturing including: process flow, 5S, inventory reduction, and budget mapping;

• Engaging personality with good verbal and written communications skills;

• Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and customers;

• Proficient with PC applications including Microsoft Office;

• Second language fluency is considered a plus.
