The Building Operations Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the Electrical Maintenance, Physical Plant, Plumbing, HVAC, and Kitchen/Refrigeration Divisions of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. This individual shall also work with and support the Building Trades Manager, Operations Compliance Manager, and Director of Facility Management in all aspects of building systems to ensure efficient and reliable operations.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Monitor day-to-day operations relating to building maintenance, projects, and maintenance systems.

  • Assist in establishing scheduled maintenance tasks, administration of projects, building operations, maintenance management systems, performance standards, and quality control.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility and report any safety hazards, needed repairs, and suggested improvements to the Director of Facility Management.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of standard contract documents, building codes, occupational safety standards, and industry guidelines relative to the work performed by the facility personnel and ensure that work is in compliance with such standards and regulations.

Assist the Director of Facility Management in the preparation of the annual budget relating to equipment maintenance and repairs as well as manage related cost controls to ensure efficient and effective operations.

  • Assist in conducting assessments of equipment needs relating to Capital Improvements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage projects with external contractors for CYP and ensure their contractual obligations are met in accordance with established guidelines and procedures while adhering to tight time lines driven by event schedules.
  • Interface all equipment repairs in harmony with other functional departments as required minimizing disruption and maximizing effectiveness.
  • Work with and support the Director of Event Operations in efficient handling of successful events.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management from four-year college or university; and four to six years related experience and/or training in a convention and/or large multi-purpose facility desired; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of three years in a supervisory role preferred. Must have an intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
