The Head of Social Marketing will drive the strategy, approach, and delivery of Social Marketing efforts for all of IHG’s brands globally, increasing brand awareness, preference, and ultimately performance. This includes organic social, paid social, creative for all organic paid social, community management/social care, social platforms + tools, crisis management, surprise + delight, user-generated content, hotel standards, and more. Social Marketing (Crisis, Community, Care), Digital Merchandising (Website, App), Omni-Channel Content Strategy, Campaign Content Marketing and Creative Production.
- Lead IHG’s Social Marketing team
- Enhance and Lead the “Social center of excellence” at IHG, including Social Risk/Crisis Management, Customer Care, Community Development and Campaign Delivery & Optimization
- Paid social strategy including audience segmentation, optimation, performance
- Partner with IHG’s Creative Services team to deliver best-in-class social marketing and creative
- Build a service-oriented team culture and mindset, that can balance strategic thought leadership with delivery and execution for our global brands, and earn trust and credibility along the way
- Develop, deploy, manage and/or support social marketing campaigns that support brand and business initiatives
- Develop and manage IHG’s social marketing calendar – working with associated teams, especially PR, to integrate creative real-time opportunities alongside campaign activations
- Grow the quantity and quality of IHG’s social media following
- Manage and drive proactive relationships with key social media partners
- Explore + Develop hotel-level social tools + platforms to make IHG great to do business with and strengthen IHG’s brands
- Management of agencies required to deliver plans, ensuring alignment, consistency, efficiency, + effectiveness.
- Serve as the social marketing evangelist across our global org, bringing best practice, new ideas and keeping IHG up to speed on the latest social innovation
- Training, advice and support to BU and PR team members as required
- Subject matter expert on ‘great social’ that drives customer engagement across owned/paid/earned
- Effective reporting, performance data and analytics to measure ROI
- Develop, execute and maintain process workflows and technologies that ensure consistent execution and delivery of social marketing programs and campaigns
- Be the knowledge owner emerging trends, technologies and applications in the social media space – seek out opportunities to apply them for IHG to drive guest love and revenue.
- Develop and mentor a high functioning Social Marketing Team while ensuring strong relationships cross functionally
- Serve as the external and internal public face of social expertise, developing IHG’s reputation as a leader in social marketing both in hospitality and beyond
- Budget management and monitoring
Education – Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Digital, Business, or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
Experience – 10+ years’ progressive work related experience and demonstratred proficiency in social media, content marketing, digital marketing, journalism,PR, preferably in an international business nad/or within travel industry.
8-10 years managing teams and/or significant complex projects.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Experience of working within a complex business with a range of stakeholders with different needs and with senior roles
- Must possess superior problem-solving skills combined with team facilitation skill.

- Ability to prioritize work based on alignment to broader IHG commercial objectives

- Ability to develop and present data-driven recommendations successfully, promote items persuasively, and shape the opinions of others
- Ability to maintain a service-oriented team culture and mindset, that delivers consistent, high quality work for IHG’s complex stakeholder group.
- P&L experience
- Experience with agency management
- Comfortable working in a highly distributed team
- Demonstrated knowledge of the social marketing landscape, principles, and industry best practices
- Experience with enterprise-level social marketing platforms and tools
- Must also be knowledgeable about digital marketing trends, analytics, current events, particularly in blogs, social networks and viral marketing.
