Head of Core Application Platforms

Lazard is looking for an innovative software engineering leader and manager to join our IT department. This individual will be working on the systems and transformation that support the global technology organization. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing the vision and roadmap for: (i) Core Application Runtime products, services, and platforms (ii) Software Defined Infrastructure transformation and practice (iii) Automation Center of Excellence including the execution of an enterprise DevOps platform and service. This leader will bring enterprise scale software development discipline and leadership experience to deliver on a core set of platforms and be the enabling engine to drive software based transformations around infrastructure and enterprise automation. This role will be a core stakeholder driving innovation and transformational technology strategies (e.g. Cloud, containers, data, DevOps, visiblity etc…) within the firm.

This leader will build and maintain a highly service and product oriented team of software and product engineers. This will be a highly visible and collaborative role across the enterprise requiring very strong working relationships with information security, application development, infrastructure, product and business teams. This function will leverage software and development practices to build out a highly adaptable and self-service interface that brings together application development, infrastructure, and security to tap into the benefits of cloud and deliver next generation value to the businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver and maintain a roadmap for core application run-time products, DevOps, and infrastructure automation and delivery
• Responsible for owing policy-driven automation/orchestration to deliver operational standardization and improved speed to market across infrastructure, and between infrastructure and applications and service provides. Leverage inventory, telemetry and data sources to drive automation agendas across infrastructure while reducing risk and complexity. Ensure infrastructure automation is aligned with DevOps targets and constructs, inclusive of immutable infrastructure principles.
• Work collaboratively to establish an API strategy for the firm which will allow for a dynamic and self-service interface between infrastructure, services, and applications
• Responsible for owning, driving and evolving automation across all of infrastructure functions by establishing a central COE, supported tool set, and needed consulting services to other engineering teams
• Establish a set core application runtime products/services to help drive simplicity, efficiency, and standardization cross multiple domains (e.g. middleware, data, messaging). Own the design, implementation and operating model for the core set of runtime products/services.
• Own the centralized roadmap, tooling, implementation, and support model for DevOps across infrastructure and line of business development teams
• Enable the introduction of new technologies (e.g. IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, containers, machine learning) using software enabled automation
• Manage all budgets related to core application platforms and services
• Ensure consistency of delivering on milestones using agile and waterfall approaches
• Own the implementation of feedback mechanisms from all stakeholder teams to measure client satisfaction and provide a feedback loop for new requirements/enhancements
• Provide strong technical team management practices: training and skills development, coaching, attracting and retaining hot skills talent, aligning people development with emerging industry trends.
