DIRECTOR OF EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Position: Director of Early Childhood Development Center

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Early Childhood Development Center is responsible and accountable for implementing all aspects of the day-to-day center operations in compliance with Bright from the Start and Quality Rated standards. This includes ensuring quality care and education; achievement of financial targets, applying rigorous, proactive cost controls; incorporating active continuous improvement in quality of operations; delivering exemplary customer service; and ensuring legal compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Consistently executes plans that ensure the mission of Rainbow Village of serving families and children is in alignment with school values and models and embeds the mission the mission and values into all operations.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with state licensing authorities, community contacts and owners.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as the organizationâs policies and procedures.
- Ensures developmentally appropriate practices are in place.
- Conducts weekly classroom observations and requests technical assistance from staff or providers to ensure that appropriate services are delivered.
- Monitors and evaluates job performance of center staff, provides counseling, and assists in correcting deficiencies as noted.
- Maintains attendance records, approves time sheets and leave request for center employees.
- Participates in interviews and/or makes recommendations for new employees.
- Conducts new employee orientation to the operations of the center as well as the work of organization in general.
- Plans and conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings. Maintains records of agendas, minutes of meetings and sign-in sheets.
- Assess and document training needs for staff, parents and volunteers based on center needs.
- Provides information to parents regarding educational services and other program activities.
- Recruits and recommends staff and parent/volunteers to serve on advisory and training committees.
- Recommends staff and parents/volunteers for special recognition and maintains a record of accomplishments to support recommendations.
- Inspects the building and grounds to ensure cleanliness, absence of hazardous materials/conditions and to identify needed repairs.
- Prepares written reports, completes required checklists and submits them to appropriate staff.
- Conducts monthly fire and tornado drills.
- Maintains necessary supplies to carry out daily operations.
- Ensures all required documentation and records (CACFP, purchase orders, etc.) are maintained.
- Monitors the centerâs weekly average attendance.
- Establishes and maintains good rapport and public relations with the community.
- Attends and participates in mandated administrative staff meetings, training and community events and agency events.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred with a minimum of 3 years Management and Supervisory experience or a minimum of 5 yearsâ experience in an Early Childhood Education environment with 3 years Management and Supervisory experience.
- Experience in planning, leading, and managing programs, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to senior leadership.
- Ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials.
- Effective at working with others to reach common goals and objectives.
- Must be able to network and serve as public relations liaison with local community agencies and established partners.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Availability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to function with minimal supervision, follow directions, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and manage stressful situations effectively.
- Current and knowledgeable about external community resources, referrals and service linkages.
- Familiarity with Head Start programs is a plus.
- Must have a good sense of humor. *

Salary: $45,000.00 to $55,000.00 /year
