  • Purpose of Job
    • This position is responsible for overall operations and outcomes of the Environmental & Linen Services Departments. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, staff competency, and educational requirements. Provides leadership, coaching, and development to departmental front line leaders and staff. Works in collaboration with, and as part of, the organizations leadership team. Has authority for programs to establish goals/objectives, work procedures, methods and standards. Decides in formal policies and their interpretation. Position has responsibility for final recommendations to the Executive Team for new budget proposals. Has final approval within the area of all hiring and disciplinary action up to the suspension/probation level. Customarily and regularly exercises discretionary powers and independent judgment. Assures Methodist Fremont Health’s mission and values are maintained and enhanced within the department(s).
  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Required: High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
      • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in hospital and or business administration, with emphasis in Environmental Services and Laundry/Linen Management.
    • License/Certifications
      • Required: DOT Certification.
      • Preferred: Association for the Heath Care Environment (AHE) Certified Health Care Environmental Services Professional (CHESP).
    • Experience
      • Required: Five years in Healthcare Environmental & Linen Services providing leadership to others.
      • Preferred: Seven years Healthcare Environmental/Linen Services Leadership Role.

      • Character and scope of essential functions require consistent sitting, seeing, hearing & lifting of general office materials.

    • Essential Functions I

      • Directs daily operations of the EVS and Linen Department Teams.
      • Directs front line leaders by delegating authority, assigning and prioritizing activities and monitoring operating standards.
      • Creates and adheres to operational and capital budgets.
      • Oversees productivity and expectations.
      • Ensures employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals, cost controls and deadlines.
      • Develops/Directs annual education/training opportunities and on boarding plans/programs.
      • Directs EVS Quality Control Program, Plans and Implementation to ensure a high level of quality of cleaning.
      • Directs service delivery to ensure a high quality level of patient satisfaction. In support of Patient Experience HCHAPS initiatives.
      • Policy and Procedure Development aligned with current practices/standards.
      • Upholds Infection Control Standards. Ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies and requirements. (APIC, CDC and AORN)
      • Direct over site for all forms of the waste stream disposals. Ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies and requirements. (TJC, EPA, NFPA, OSHA, NDEQ, State)
      • Direct over site of Service Contractors, work scope development and completion.
      • Establishes and implements performance improvement initiatives.
      • Has Human Resources responsibility and interactions.
    • Essential Functions II

      • Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.
