The role

Provide leadership in developing and implementing strategic plans to accelerate core medical device global revenue growth and improve global profitability of the Chronic Care business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Development

  • Create a compelling global vision/strategy for Chronic Care; communicate and get alignment across all relevant functions and regions as well as the Avanos
Leadership Team

  • Assess relevant market trends, customer needs, clinical trends, regulatory environment, and competitive landscape globally to inform the strategic plan
  • Partner with regional stakeholders to execute global strategic plans to deliver on sales, gross profit and operating profit objectives
  • Partner with clinical affairs to develop and incorporate clinical strategies into the greater strategic plan where appropriate
New Product Development

  • Prioritize R&D investments in both new product development and sustaining engineering to support the Chronic Care strategy and business objectives
  • Develop comprehensive business cases to inform the activation and prioritization of Chronic Care R&D projects
  • Lead through influence, cross functional R&D teams to ensure that projects stay within scope and on-time.
  • Provide leadership in executing world class new product launches
  • Incorporate market research and voice of customer when appropriate
Business Development

  • Identify, assess and champion key inorganic growth initiatives that align with the business’s financial objectives
  • Play a lead role in due diligence as well as leading the commercial integration work for all Chronic Care business development initiatives
International Growth

  • Lead the effort to accelerate international sales growth by partnering with the regional teams to develop regional business plans that roll up into the global vision/strategy
  • Provide leadership in assessing emerging markets to place “smart bets” on go-to-market decisions and plans.
  • Ensure global customer feedback is incorporated into product development projects.
  • Effectively manage a product portfolio that meets regional needs while also meeting the business’s profit objectives

Your qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
  • Ten years’ experience in medical device marketing, sales and/or commercial roles
  • At least 3 years’ experience with direct people management, leading others and developing talent
  • Ability to develop comprehensive, well thought out, business cases
  • Sound understanding of the product development process for medical devices
  • Proven ability to develop unique value propositions, supporting insights, and selling to value/benefits
  • Ability to travel up to 25-30% at times, some international
