Chief Executive Officer
Riverbend Community Mental Health, Inc., one of the largest providers of community-based behavioral health services in New Hampshire, is seeking a full-time Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO is responsible for the overall administration, planning, development, coordination, and evaluation of all operations of Riverbend and its subsidiaries and behavioral healthcare services provided by Capital Region Healthcare. The CEO provides leadership and organizational focus to ensure a productive, responsive and mission-driven community behavioral health organization.
Responsibilities:

- Serve as an advocate and the official spokesperson/liaison for Riverbend with the public-at-large, the community, and appropriate local, state and federal bodies. May designate other administrative staff to serve this function where appropriate.
- Work with senior leadership to monitor agency strategic planning to maximize opportunities by overseeing planning processes involving all key stakeholders.
- Work with senior leadership to articulate agency vision and goals internally and externally, and to direct agency resources as appropriate and prudent.
- Work with agency leadership to maintain open and clear communication with staff, to utilize the talents and ideas of staff in decision-making, to create a positive culture and a high quality, stable workforce.
- Oversee and evaluate senior leadership team and other direct reports in the performance of their duties; May also be involved in the evaluation of other key staff.
- Work in collaboration with agency leadership to monitor overall recruitment efforts, discharge of staff, and disciplinary action. May designate other administrative staff to serve this function where appropriate.
- Work with agency leadership to ensure that clinical care offered within the Riverbend system is of the highest quality.
- Work with agency and Board leadership to monitor agency financial performance.
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue, with Board of Directors guidance and approval, opportunities to diversify and expand revenue sources for the benefit of the organization, the individuals and families served, and the community at large. May designate other administrative staff to serve this function where appropriate.
- Work with agency and Board leadership to develop and maintain collaborations with other organizations in the community.
- Work with agency and Board leadership on fund-raising, development, and philanthropic initiatives. May designate other administrative staff to serve this function where appropriate.
- Work with agency leadership to propose and negotiate contracts with public and private entities and to ensure compliance with the same.
- Work with Community Behavioral Health Association, agency leadership, and with the Bureau of Behavioral Health and others in state government to advocate for the needs of the individuals and families served by Riverbend, and to secure adequate funding for those needs.
- Attend all meetings of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and other Board Committees, as appropriate.
- Work with agency leadership to ensure that the Board receives timely, accurate and relevant reports about agency operations, finances, and initiatives.
- Work with agency leadership to assure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, appoint a corporate compliance officer, and monitor activities of the corporate compliance committee. May designate other administrative staff to serve this function where appropriate.
- Provide leadership at Capital Region Health Care as the Vice President of Behavioral Health and participate in Concord Hospital’s Senior Leadership Team; Promote access to behavioral health services provided throughout CRHC and Riverbend to meet community need.
- Work with Concord Hospital and Riverbend leadership to oversee and manage psychiatric services in the Emergency Department, the inpatient psychiatric unit, ECT, and consultation liaison services to inpatient medical/surgical units. May designate other agency leadership to assist with this function as appropriate.
- Work with Concord Hospital and Riverbend leadership on integration initiatives involving Concord Hospital Medical Group to address behavioral health needs of patients within Concord Hospital practices. May designate other agency leadership to assist with this function as appropriate.
- Work with Concord Hospital and Riverbend leadership to ensure that staffing levels meet the needs of Concord Hospital patients and staff. May designate other agency leadership to assist with this function as appropriate.
- Work with agency leadership to address performance related to contract requirements with DHHS.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Master’s degree in psychology, social work, public health, business administration, or a related field is required.
- A clinical degree at either the bachelor’s or graduate level is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience providing or directing the provision of behavioral health services.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience at the executive management level.
- Experience diversifying and expanding revenue sources through a variety of activities including, but not limited to, fundraising.
