Job Description:
Plans, schedules and directs the work of the accounts payable unit within the established accounting policies of the organization.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Oversees processing and verification of invoices and employee expenses, and issuance of payments.
  • Ensures all disbursements are properly authorized, bills are paid correctly and timely, and that expenses are coded correctly and in compliance with established policies.
  • Responsible for continuing to improve the A/P processing procedures and controls. Evaluates and recommends changes in methods or procedures to improve the efficiency of the accounts payable unit.
  • Communicate with business regarding proper accounts payable issues. Advises business on proper processing procedures.
  • Responsible for selecting, training, assigning and evaluating all A/P employees.
  • Reviews accounts payable register and other related accounting reports.
  • Prepares regular and special reports regarding accounts payable transactions.
  • Confirms collection of W-9 and W-8 forms to comply with IRS regulations.
  • Responsible for all reconciliation and submission of all 1099s.
  • Responsible for all non-routine and unscheduled transactions.
Other Job Functions:
  • Maintains communication with various levels of management and affiliated personnel.
  • Coordinates accounts payable projects as needed.
Skills, Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in corporate accounting including at least 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze, process, discern problems areas, determine root causes and implement solutions that will prevent problems from recurring.
  • Ability to handle a large work load and be detail oriented. Experience in managing an A/P department that processes a minimum of 3,500 + invoices a month.
  • Experience with computerized accounting systems and monthly close process.
  • Must have proficiency in PC applications such as MS-Excel and MS-Word. Oracle and Coupa experience a plus.
  • May perform other duties as assigned
