The Director of the University Galleries will report to the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS) and is a tenure-track position at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor or similarly ranked non-tenure track position in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts or related department within CAHSS. The director will have management responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the University Galleries; and in conjunction with the Dean and University administrative leaders, will conceive and implement the vision and mission of the University Galleries, as well as develop artistic/creative strategies and endeavors to enhance the Galleries’ contributions to and positive impact on the University’s constituents and surrounding community.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences houses the Departments of Criminal Justice, English, History and Political Science, Journalism and Mass Communication, Liberal Studies, and Visual and Performing Arts. CAHSS is an academic unit that reports to the Office of the Provost/Division of Academic Affairs and enrolls more than 1,950 students and has more than 130 faculty members.

Minimum Requirements

Academic qualifications of the position require a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or terminal degree in the discipline (MFA), with significant administrative/teaching experience, preferably in a higher-education environment.

In addition to stated academic qualifications, previous professional experience (minimum of 7 years) in art gallery administration, art collection curation, and fund-raising, with demonstrated excellence in teaching and creative/research activities consistent with eligibility for appointment/tenure at the rank of associate professor or professor is preferred.
