Job Information

Unit-Specific Responsibilities

1) Identify and address administrative, process and external relations challenges in collaborative efforts within the University as well as with external parties.

2) Identify new opportunities for external partnerships, quickly coalesce the right University partners needed to actualize a partnership, and facilitate delivery of content, planning, and connections.

3) Develop and manage strong relationships with faculty members and others working in the sciences or adjacent spaces.

4) Maintain and promote awareness of faculty research, initiatives, and programs across the sciences.

5) Collaborate and communicate with faculty and leadership to coordinate cross-project initiatives and activities.

6) Convene a working group of senior leaders engaged with the sciences to move new initiatives forward.

7) Serve as liaison for units already engaged with faculty and external partners around science, including The Office of the Vice Provost for Research, the Office of the VP for National Labs, Alumni Relations and Development, the Polsky Center, Career Services and UChicago GRAD, UChicago Global, and University Communications.

8) Coordinate with the Office of Legal Counsel and University Research Administration to structure agreements and maintain compliance with University policy.

9) Other duties and special projects as assigned.

3) Some evening or weekend work may be required on occasion.

Education

1) Bachelor’s degree

2) Graduate degree

Experience

1) A minimum of eight years of relevant experience.

2) Familiarity with central administration within a complex research university environment.

3) Knowledge of higher education and the University of Chicago
