    VP – Plant Operations

    Job Summary:

    Bayou City Hemp Company is seeking to hire a VP – Plant Manager to take on the responsibility of overseeing plant activities in order to meet business objectives. The successful candidate will be accountable for all aspects of plant performance and will ensure that objectives are attained in a cost-effective manner that’s consistent with quality requirements. He or she will also delegate authority to key supervisors in production, manage all functions involved and direct and coordinate operations for the processing plant.

    A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management or related field is preferred. In order to succeed in this role, the Plant Manager needs to have a high level of mechanical aptitude, excellent communication skills and the ability to lead a team. Previous experience in a plant management role is required.

    Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

    Supervises: Operations Personnel

    Wage Status: Exempt (ineligible for overtime)

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the day to day operations of the plant
    • Track daily operation output and monitor efficiencies to ensure optimum production rates
    • Hiring / firing of operators and coordinating training for all plant employees
    • Lead the safety training and ensure plant runs in a safe and efficient manner
    • Ensure all environmental regulations are being met and documented accordingly
    • Ensure that all operating procedures are properly documented and being followed by operators
    • Initiate a preventative maintenance program, ensure stocking of spare parts and ensure necessary tools are available for routine maintenance
    • Establish a lock out, tag out procedure for being able to safely work on equipment.
    • Establish protocol for security monitoring, secure storage of final product and monitor quality to make sure theft is not occurring
    • Control costs to achieve company budget goals
    • Coordinate with VP – Sales and Distribution to deliver in compliance with sales contracts
    • Participate in conferences and promotional events as needed and determined by the executive team
    • Continuing education in plant efficiencies and safety (hemp processing conferences as applicable for processing procedures)

    Essential Job Functions:

    • College degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred
    • 5+ years plant operations experience; hemp or food processing a plus
    • Knowledge of Food Safety (HACCP principals, GMPs, SOPs and SSOPs, Pest Control, Allergen Control and Recall programs)
    • Solid knowledge of Laboratory Procedures
    • Has experience, however limited, with analytical chemistry equipment for the quantification of cannabinoids, particularly THCA/THC and CBDA/CBD
    • Proven managerial experience
    • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants
    • Able to lead root cause analysis investigations
    • Able to explain training material to our operating staff
    • Aptitude for equipment operation and troubleshooting
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Maintains regular daily office hours with flexibility to work evenings and weekends and be on call.
    • Present self in a neat, clean and professional manner at all times throughout the workday and/or whenever present with potential customers.
    • Requires a valid driver’s license, an insured vehicle
    • Ability to perform in a busy, changing, multi-tasking work environment
