POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Business Development is part of NFI’s leadership team. NFI utilizes the Entrepreneurial Operation System (EOS) as its operating model. This position will play an important role in rolling out EOS to the Business Development team, which includes creating and facilitating a high accountability culture, and coaching and mentoring team members to successfully adopt and embrace EOS principles.

In addition to the above, this position will be directly responsible for all aspects of the Business Development team, including but not limited to: mentoring and developing existing staff; leveraging EOS to implement structure, support and accountability; overseeing the development and performance of each team member, tracking and setting sales goals/targets; facilitating any ongoing training; assisting team members in developing strategis to win new business in NFI’s newly identified target and serviceable markets, and building sustainable relationships.

Candidate must be positive with an encouraging personality and a strong work ethic. Strong communication skills working with a wide variety of personalities is a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Actively participate as a member of the NFI leadership team
  • Manage and hold accountable business development team through teamwork, trust and shared expectations
  • Oversee routine administrative tasks of business development team, such as: timely expense report submission and consistent updating of proprietary opportunity management system
  • Hold routine Level 10 (EOS) meetings to track lead generation, proposal follow ups, and proposal development status, which will be part of the business development team scorecard
  • Develop and implement business development plans by target market and/or serviceable market to maximize market penetration and opportunity development; continually refine
  • Consistently evaluate potential opportunities by analyzing market strategies and trends, requirements, potential and financials
  • Review outgoing proposals if needed for scope and pricing accuracy, as well as client alignment
  • Prepare and present monthly reports to COO on the overall status of the business development sales, proposals, pipeline, leads, activity, challenges, personnel and staffing concerns—this report will be an extension of scorecard items shared in leadership Level 10 (EOS) meeting
  • Provide market intelligence to stay abreast of opportunities and threats to our business
  • Participate in engagements such as tradeshows, client events (charitable outings, golf outings) and other occasional after-hours activities
  • Coach, mentor and provide continued development/training; develop training schedule
  • Conduct quarterly and annual performance reviews using the EOS model
  • Help team members develop and set quarterly and annual priorities/goals; hold them accountable to reach those priorities/goals
  • Openly share expertise and best practices with all team members while also elevating and leveraging the expertise within the team
  • Stay up to date by reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
  • Keep all company and leadership information confidential
