The Vice President of Human Resources provides overall strategic leadership to the organization and promotes a learning and high performance culture of equity, accountability and pursuit of excellence. He/she owns the development and implementation of human resources policies, programs and services, including employee relations; affirmative action and legal compliance of equitable employment practices; performance based compensation and benefits; talent recruitment and retention, employee satisfaction and career development; benefit packages; and employee communications. The VP of Human Resources engages in the strategic planning process by supporting the execution of business strategies and plans through the implementation of HR strategies and solutions that support short and long–term objectives and vitality of the organization. The incumbent selects, develops, evaluates and leads a department of professionals with a goal of earning a high level of credibility as an effective and responsive resource in the organization. He/she strives to foster a workplace environment consistent with the core values, mission and vision outlined by senior executives and the board of directors.
- Lead a team of HR professionals with the goal of earning a high level of credibility as an organizational asset
- Train and mentor HR staff, cross training for efficiency and effectiveness, and develop a succession plan for the HR Department
- Oversees the benefits process, pension and benefits regulatory compliance, including benefits administration system, and coordination with payroll for required actions, taxation, etc.
- Monitor the company wage and salary structure and the variable pay systems, including bonuses and raises to ensure market based equity and intentional, strategic recruitment and retention
- Comply with all existing governmental reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker’s compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), ect.

- Oversee the recruitment process using recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire an efficient workforce
- Support management team, supervisors and employees on employee issues that affect performance and business relationships
- Ensure employee relations are handled professionally, accurately and legally, mitigating risk of retaliation and/or legal action
- Partner with and create alignment within Human Resources and all areas of the organization to accomplish company objectives
- Develop and implement organizational strategies and objectives to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Human Resource function
- Create an inclusive and rewarding workplace for all employees, promote a positive environment and culture consistent with the mission, core values and strategic goals
- Implement programs, policies and practices designed to enhance employee engagement, reduce turnover, and ensure legal compliance
- Identify all training and development needs and ensure all programs align with company strategies
- Oversee the organization’s performance management process
- Develop succession planning strategies, career development programs for all levels, development needs assessments and other innovative strategies
- Analyze and report balanced scorecard metrics
- Manage and leverage HRIS systems to ensure automation of processes, efficiency of workflow, and accuracy of information/data
- Create and adhere to the HR budget. Provide input for annual budgets and business plans
- Maintain current knowledge and understanding of industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable Human Resources laws
- Lead FTE allocations and position control in collaboration with leadership of finance and operations
Required Skills
Required Experience
- A Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Organizational Management (or similar business graduate degree) and/or equivalent experience
- 15+ years in a leadership role within Human Resources, preferably in a health-care environment
- Highly-developed understanding of all facets of Human Resources and legal compliance, including talent acquisition, performance management, HRIS, benefits administration, and organizational development
- Experience in developing strategic and tactical goals at the corporate, department and individual levels of the organization
- Thorough knowledge of government reporting requirements
