The Vice President provides vision and leadership for the development and use of Data and Analytics in support of the mission and strategic objectives of the UNC System, with an emphasis on academic analytics and institutional research. The VP is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to all departmental team members as needed for analysis and special projects and/or work assignments. The VP communicates regularly and effectively with the 17 Directors of Institutional Research at UNC System constituent institutions and other data providers on data collection requirements and dissemination of reports, and provides leadership for the System-wide student data collection system and analytics platform. The VP for Data and Analytics plays a key role in helping refine the UNC System-wide data strategy in partnership with System Office Information Technology and data stewards/owners in the Finance, Human Resources, and Strategy and Policy divisions. The VP works to proactively identify information needs for the UNC System, and assists stakeholders in developing and refining research questions. The VP must understand the data available to answer pressing questions about issues of student access, success, and other relevant institutional operations. The VP ensures that the department is incorporating applied research methods to analyse data and provide decision support. As a member of the Division of Academic Affairs leadership team, the VP plays a key role in the development of the divisionâ??s strategic and operational plan, and the VP represents Academic Affairs and the UNC System at various meetings with constituent institutions and external groups. The position works with UNC System Office leadership and as a member of various working groups established by the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.
