Job description
The Vice President, Core Engineering is responsible for driving functional excellence and standards globally across all core engineering domains for Cabin; operational excellence, design standards, flammability, modeling and simulation, software and electronics, materials and processes, acoustics, and centralized test engineering. This position will report to the Executive Vice President, Engineering for Cabin.
Vice President, Core Engineering provides professional and technical guidance across Cabin to ensure that effective engineering standard practices, standard processes and standard procedures are developed, implemented and adhered to for all divisions. Ensures the most effective use of the tools and facilities is achieved. Provides direction to management regarding all activities and policies related to the product line’s design, engineering and production efforts.
Summary of Duties:
- Develops and deploys global standards for configuration management,
requirements management, operational excellence, and system architecture
to drive efficiency in global engineering operations across Cabin.
- Develops core domain technical competencies in flammability, modeling and
simulation, acoustics, and software and electronics architecture to drive
efficiency in global engineering operations across Cabin.
- Develops and deploys centralized materials and processes center of
excellence (COE) across Cabin; drive standardization in materials, processes,
and finishes to simplify product portfolio and maximize reuse across Cabin in
all new product development activity.
- Develops and deploys test engineering center of excellence strategy for Cabin
- Develops and implements standard design review process and reporting in
support of V & V process.
- Stimulate and steers in coordination with the EVP Engineering and technical
experts the consolidation and update of Safran Cabin design manual.
- Assists more generally BUs and EVP Engineering with regard the right first
time design and engineering best practices sharing and deployment.
- Ad hoc reports on design risks depending on the criticality of issues, and
support to mitigation action plan development (general orientations or
detailed planning depending on the situation).

Job requirements
Education: Bachelors degree in engineering discipline, Masters degree and/or MBA preferred.
Experience:
15 years of experience developing Cabin products and systems; 10 years formal leadership experience with proven track record of effective team-building and talent development within a design and build organization
