Optum Medical Benefit Management (MBM) addresses the need to manage costly, complex, highly-visible disease states that can be treated at multiple sites of care and have wide variation in outcomes. Musculoskeletal (MSK) is one of many top disease states driving high spend and the MBM MSK product suite is an important set of products/solutions designed to reduce unnecessary costs while delivering quality outcomes and lowering total cost of care.
This MSK Product Leader will be dedicated to lead new product development and management; roadmap build, execution and innovation of solution delivery critical to enabling MBM’s growth. Establishing both internal and external relationships will be critical in driving viable program designs, relevant market value positioning and executable sales. This role will be a key leader across a matrixed organization, where influence will be necessary to meet operational requirements and expected product performance.
Primary Responsibilities:

Define and lead MSK new product development, including the building and managing of the product roadmap, aligned to the MBM MSK product vision

Identify solutions and programs that resonate for the MBM condition spend categories, delivering high-value and offering differentiated and compelling impacts

Effectively identify and frame product opportunities, translating a vision into processes and requirements

Manage profitable product performance at both client and market level, changing course or enhancing program design to ensure market needs are met

Forecast revenue and savings opportunities associated with product initiatives; drive internal capital resources to support capability development needs

Partner with functional area stakeholders to enable successful development and delivery of creative program solutions

Navigate and influence multiple cross-functional teams in a complex, matrix work environment

Manage cross-segment projects and initiatives that require problem solving, relationship building, influencing and analyzing

Present product/capability concepts, impacts and value positioning to internal and external stakeholders

Work closely with the sales team to develop and support sales strategy and product value messaging

Key resource for MBM leadership on market trends, customer needs and product presentations

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree

8+ Years of experience product development/management

Experience in leading complicated, cross-functional projects

Strong demonstrated ability to lead business initiatives to a successful result

Experience in complex, matrix organizations; knows how to get things done both through formal channels and the informal network

Demonstrated leadership ability with cross-functional teams and consensus builder.
