Summary
Manages sales activities in a specific geographic area by performing the following duties personally or through dealers and independent agents.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and implements strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals.
- Develops sales forecasts and sets performance goals accordingly.
- Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules and discount rates.
- Coordinates sales distribution by establishing relationships with dealers and agents and maintaining relationships with key clients.
- Advises dealers, distributors and clients concerning products and services.
- Analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and assist dealers with promoting sales.
- Provides information to general manager on product simplification and marker conditions.
- Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product.
- Assists in setting up booths at trade shows.
- Meets with and delivers sales presentations to key clients, and occasionally in coordination withdealers and agents.
- Assists dealers and agents with negotiating and closing deals.
- Coordinates liaison between sales department and other sales related units.
- Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.
- Assists other departments within organization to prepare manuals and technical publications.
- Prepares periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales and area of proposed client base expansion.
- Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Has indirect supervision over the activities of dealers, independent agents and inside sales support staff.
Qualifications
- Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Three to five years related experience and/or training, preferably in industrial equipment sales.
- Strong technical aptitude with ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form containing both abstract and concrete variables.
- Good oral and written presentation skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency operating a personal computer and using word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software.
- Language skills to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Mathematical proficiency to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
- Must be able to travel approximately 30% to 50% of the job time.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and required auto insurance.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
