We are looking for an experienced courier/ driver to help us manage our growing route base and expanding team. Ultimately, this person will be part of our management team, overseeing various aspects of operations, providing customer service support, dispatch and packing/ shipping oversight.
This person’s FIRST responsibility, however, is to cover routes when staff are out, train new drivers, and help oversee route development. We need a professional courier who is a fast learner, likes driving, enjoys a challenge, and knows Denver and the front range well.
This person will work closely with our Operations Manager, accomplishing business objectives by effectively managing staff, planning and evaluating routes, and collaborating with teammates to increase the efficiency and professionalism of delivery and customer service.
We have a “get the job done” environment and are seeking someone who has a sense of urgency to get the job done, but enough patience and persistence to make sure it gets done correctly.
An upbeat attitude, effective communication skills and a “find-a-need-and-fill-it” work ethic are, beyond doubt, at the top of the list of qualifications.
Job Duties:
- Masters routes well enough to comfortably cover for any courier who is out for the day.
- Works well with other office management to manage: dispatch, employee management, customer service, and daily problem-solving needs.
- Assists in training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment.
- Manages staff by communicating job expectations.
- Coaches, counsels, and assists employees in job functions and duties.
- Helps with enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Maintains high level of service to clients by practicing and enforcing quality and customer service standards.
- Communicates effectively.
- Contributes to team by maintaining a positive, constructive attitude.
Manager Skills and Qualifications:
- 3+ years of driving/ courier/ transportation experience
- Great attitude & excellent communication skills
- Management experience, or ability to demonstrate management potential
- Excellent customer service skills
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record
- Basic computer skills (ability to navigate web fluently and master dispatch management system, etc)
- Demonstrated ability to work positively and productively on a team.
- Detail oriented
- Able to see the “big picture” and plan accordingly (what needs to happen tomorrow? next week? next month?)
Hours:
Hours are 9am-6pm, M-F. Some days will run longer due to route coverage needs and things that are out of our control. May need to be available to start earlier depending on coverage needed, though that is more rare than common. Lunch available most days, depending on route coverage needed. We guarantee 40 hours/ week, after which overtime accrues. This position often requires 40-45 hours/ week.
