Position Overview: American Outdoor Brands was forged in innovation and the desire to produce products that support the everyday shooter, hunter, defender, and outdoorsman. AOB is coveted for its leading innovative product development capabilities and processes. The Project Manager is a key contributor within the Product Development department, assisting with strategic projects within Product Development, Continuous Improvement activities/projects, OEM project support, and supply chain management activities. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and experience with hunting, shooting, and outdoor accessories.

Education and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with firearms and outdoor products and accessories
  • Firearms industry experience desired
  • Travel domestically and internationally to suppliers and customers
  • Total Travel: 2-3 weeks per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and/or support new brand/product integrations and launches, whether organic launches, integrations, or through acquisitions
    • Integration of product development documentation (CAD, product specifications, detailed drawings, and etc..)
    • Manage packaging refresh/redesign projects and initiatives
    • Manage the integration and/or addition of new equipment within the facility
  • Manage and/or support OEM projects and opportunities
    • Collaboration with the OEM sales team
    • Management and/or support of intracompany project meetings and project tracking documents
    • Management and/or support of financial analysis/tracking on OEM projects and opportunities, including management of product cost and cost reduction initiatives/negotiations
    • Management of customer samples and production kick-off of OEM projects and opportunities
  • Support of the AOB Asia WFOE, and support of new/existing product sourcing activities overall
    • Support product sourcing and resourcing activities and optimize product quality, cost, and supply chain robustness
    • Identify and onboard potential new suppliers domestically and globally
    • Perform new supplier development activities
    • Collaborate with suppliers/manufacturers, as needed, in support of existing products and products in development
  • Manage and implement strategic initiatives within Product Development as identified and as assigned
    • Continuous improvement projects (product development documentation, process documents, templates, forms, and etc..)
    • Implementation of new processes
    • Implementation of new equipment and software
  • Collaborate with purchasing, marketing, and supply base in relation to NPI
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, and the ability to lead meetings
  • Strong organization skills, multi-tasking capabilities, and active priority management skills
  • Build and maintain professional, constructive working relationships with other departments and with suppliers
  • Work safely as well as identify and report any safety hazards immediately

Physical Demands:

  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Some work is required in “off-hours” for business meetings/company events.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer.
  • Ability to move about facility on regular basis to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking.
  • Visual and hearing acuity.

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

  • General office environment, with some exposure to plant environment, with fork lift and other general hazards.
  • Exposure to the outdoors, unstable ground, and some climbing

Within any of our facilities, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:

  • Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor

The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
