Under the direction of the VP of Manufacturing, the Foam Manager is responsible for ensuring daily production of foam components and assembly is executed according to schedule. The Foam Manager oversees for the multiple foam manufacturing areas that support final production, directs daily activities ensuring that foam products are manufactured on-schedule, within quality standards and cost parameters.
In this newly created position and manufacturing activity the Foam Manager will be influential in shaping the role and establishing best-in-class foam component and assembly production which meets the demand of downstream activities in work working and upholstery for quantity and quality.
We are located in Southwest Dallas near I-20 and Mountain Creek Parkway.
What you will be responsible for
- Executing the daily foam production schedule maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure foam products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
- Achieving optimum productivity and employee efficiency levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs.
- Direct and monitor foam department supervisors to accomplish goals of the production schedule, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.
- Act as liaison between foam department management/subordinate levels, as well as to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance and results.
- Overseeing, through maintenance team, the maintenance of all foam machinery, and foam equipment including building maintenance in the foam area.
- Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff.
- Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consult with Human Resources Department as appropriate.
- Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve foam productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Direct the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
- Implement various programs essential to foam manufacturing procedures e.g., management of change, standard work, shop floor controls, 5S, training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc..
- Manage monthly bonus process for foam production/direct labor employees and their respective leads, and assistant leads.
- Implements major projects, e.g., foam plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc..
- Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
We are looking for candidates that have
- Experience working with manufacturing-based process controls, equipment technology, processes and principles including Oracle, SAP or related technology
- Confident, independent action, initiative, inquisitive, proactive, and a sense of urgency
- Ability to react and quickly adjust to changing conditions at a faster-than-average pace
- Knowledge of advanced shop floor control, process improvement, manufacturing engineering and related fields
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to interact collaboratively with others
Some ‘must haves’ include
- BA/BS in industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline.
- 7-10 years’ experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry.
- 5 years of people management/leadership experience
- An independent decision maker that will occasionally utilize team consensus or collaboration
- A stimulating influence on employees, while being firm, direct, and self-assured in dealing with them
- A proven ability to deal with complexity and develop innovative solutions
It’s a plus if you have
- Oracle ERP experience
- Foam or Furniture industry experience
- Process Improvement
- Six Sigma Lean Practitioner
- Bilingual English/Spanish
