About The Opportunity

The IT Project Manager defines computer system requirements for the solution of difficult and complex business problems and is responsible and accountable for the coordinated management of projects directed toward strategic business objectives. The IT Project Manager is responsible for the definition and initiation of projects, costs, scheduling and performance management, while working to ensure success and acceptance of the completed project. This position formulates procedures for the resolution of problems, as well as leading in the development, implementation and maintenance of complex systems and projects of significant duration and business impact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determines the project approach, staffing, responsibilities and work plan.
  • Develops and maintains productive working relationships with project sponsors and key systems users.
  • Develops and/or reviews estimates and estimating assumptions for the work plan, effort and cost using established estimating models, best practices and past experience; the resulting estimates account for all activities in the project scope, including project management and application development tasks, software quality assurance reviews and vendor and contract management activities.
  • Responsible for the overall development and integration of requirements; reviews and manages all changes to the requirements through a formally defined scope change process.
  • Supervises and guides the detailed design and development activities for entire project including budgeting responsibility.
  • Assists users in prioritizing new development projects, enhancement projects for existing systems and system maintenance request.
  • Recommends projects to IT and business management for approval; assesses alternative systems approaches for workability and economic feasibility.
  • Estimates staff resource needs for analysts, programmers, user personnel, consultants and equipment.
  • Defines team member roles and expectations and ensures timely feedback; ensures that project resources receive any necessary training and are used effectively.
  • Reviews documentation and assures it is complete, acceptable and in accordance with standards.
  • Prepares and disseminates regular project status reports.
  • Plans team member work assignments and schedules, and guides and monitors work performance.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve systems supporting business processes.
  • Provides guidance and support to customers and stakeholders on the use of enterprise systems.
  • Uses knowledge of IT principles, methods and practices to plan, implement and coordinate services to diagnose and resolve problems, and ensure continuous service.
  • Develops metrics, critical success factors and key indicators to monitor and assess results.
  • Leads and organizes all aspects of the SCRUM process including facilitating daily standup, leading retrospectives, sprint planning, and any other meetings that need to occur.
  • Ensures that all team members are clearly and accurately informed

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent related discipline
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in software development with a deep understanding and breadth of experience with technical systems
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in IT project management with experience leading large projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Agile development methodology (SCRUM preferred)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • CSPO, CSM, or other SCRUM accreditation preferred
  • Strong experience with Agile planning software; Microsoft DevOps (also known as Microsoft TFS or VSTS) preferred
  • Working knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) models
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to address individuals and small groups by phone, web conference and in person
  • Ability to make independent management decisions, solve problems, and prioritize workload
  • Ability to work well with people with varying technical abilities
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentation materials
  • Ability to formulate and define systems scope and objectives through research and due diligence
  • Strong problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, ability to plan, work independently, and manage multiple projects
  • Advanced computer literacy, including knowledge of software applications and familiarity with MS Office, internet, and mobile applications
