    A diversified farming operation in Sutter County, CA is seeking an experienced Farm Manager. This farm produces rice, tomatoes, walnuts, corn, alfalfa, sunflowers, wheat, and beans. The candidate should have strong communication skills and be able to interact well with management, employees, suppliers and buyers. Candidate should be self-motivated and proactive.Position responsible for the daily planning, supervision and administration of farm activities.

    Variations in workload based on seasonal demands – some unsociable hours may be necessary during busy periods (eg. during planting or harvesting) and farm manager will be expected to deal with emergencies on occasion.

    Responsibilities include:

    • oversee farm operation – planning, land prep, production and harvesting of crops
    • forward planning
    • budgeting and maintaining accurate financial records
    • organizing purchases of equipment parts and supplies
    • handling paperwork and keeping administrative records
    • recruiting, training/instructing and supervising farm workers
    • making sure that work progresses satisfactorily
    • ensuring compliance with government regulations and health and safety standards
    • keeping an up-to-date knowledge of pests and diseases
    • ensuring that the farm is profitable and meets projected financial targets
    • direct, assist and/or perform maintenance/repair of farm equipment and machinery

    Requirements Include:

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Ag-Business, Crop Science or related discipline preferred but not required.

    2. Possess Private Applicator Certificate or QAL.

    3. Possess CDL Class A license or be willing to obtain upon being hired.

    4. Own set of hand tools.

    5. Bi-lingual a plus.
