The Project ManagerâEngineering plans and manages the delivery of engineering solutions that meet the needs of the new product development roadmap. This position provides direction to the cross-functional project team and works closely with internal and external business partners to ensure on-time, on-budget and in-spec projects. This role provides project management oversight from early business case development through final implementation and commercial release.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Demonstrate the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors.
2. Manage the overall planning, execution and delivery of new product and technology projects including, but not limited to, defining business requirements, assessing project scope and measures of success, defining the project charter and team organization, and securing the necessary resources and services required to complete the project.
3. Act as the link between engineering management, product management, project team, and vendor resources, while effectively managing expectations of internal and external business partners.
4. Ensure successful fulfillment of the defined project scope and deliver solutions consistent with company standards, development processes, and best practices.
5. Track and communicate project status including, but not limited to, monitoring, evaluating, and adjusting project schedules on an ongoing basis; managing scope changes and issues, taking corrective action as necessary; identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks; and monitoring budget and escalating issues and variances, where necessary.
6. Build and lead effective cross-functional project teams, including but not limited to identifying individual and team skills necessary to enhance project performance, identifying and requesting appropriate resources from business, managing conflicts within team, setting goals for team members, providing ongoing feedback, and evaluating achievement.
7. Collaborate with engineering leadership to identify and execute opportunities for continual process improvement in the product development processes.
Education and/or Experience
- 4-year college degree, preferably in a technical field.
- Minimum of seven years project management experience in delivering technical solutions from concept to commercialization, such as new product development or leading medium complexity IT projects; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Proven experience and ability to simultaneously manage and prioritize one or more medium scale projects.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of project management concepts, processes and methodologies, including working within an Agile development process.
- Experience with all phases of new product development, from concept through commercialization.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods and coordination of teams ranging from management to staff to technicians.
- Understanding of general business practices and policies and working knowledge of business process mapping, design and measurement.
- Proven ability to work with and lead in a highly-technical, cross-functional and cross-cultural team environment.
- Excellent initiative, self-motivation and resourcefulness with ability to make independent and timely decisions.
- Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, influence and persuade team members, functional leadership, sponsors, and external partners.
- Ability to lead and direct project team under extreme pressure.
- Ability to effectively deal with frequent change, delays, and unexpected events.
- Ability to produce accurate, professional and error-free documents.

Travel
Up to 15% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.
