Summary:
The incumbent will set the vision and goals of the District’s curriculum and instruction with the collaboration and agreement of District stakeholders.
Essential Functions:
- Supervises and evaluates personnel in the curriculum and instruction department.
- Determines the roles and responsibilities of district and school-based instructional coaches and oversees professional development and training of district and campus instructional coaches
- Determines the curricula and instructional needs of the District and schools.
- Provides direction and expectations for professional learning community (PLC) and professional development.
- Sets PLC expectations and training for all staff involved.
- Ensures alignment of professional development for administration, instructional coaches and teachers
- Oversees the development and implementation of the District’s curriculum program guide.
- Develops user-friendly, standards based curriculum guide.
- Seeks input from District stakeholders.
- Ensures alignment and considers various data.
- Determines and provides professional development to effectively use the guide.
- Monitors its implementation.
- Establishes expectations for using guide, adopted materials and supplementals for planning purposes. Establishes guardrails for using data to drive instruction.
- Ensures all assessments are aligned to standards.
- Provides training on the rationale for assessments to all stakeholders.
- Uses similar formats for each content guide.
- Develops quarterly plan for professional development based on most recent data for all stakeholders. Acts as project manager to ensure individuals, schools and the District have their professional development needs met.
- Determines metrics (measures of success) and rationale in 90-day action plan prior to implementing the plan. Seeks input and agreement by all stakeholders.
- Determines the purpose of all meetings then decides who will attend, when the meeting will be, what will be accomplished, and what will be the follow up to each meeting.
- Completes program evaluation each 90 days to determine the (keep, modify, remove) criteria.
- Ensures and verifies that all standards and critical elements are addressed and updated annually based on assessment data and principal, teacher, and other input.
Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. In addition, verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
- Master’s degree in education.
- Teaching experience.
- Leadership experience in public schools.
- Valid Arizona Department of Transportation driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
- Master’s degree in educational leadership or related field.
- Project management experience.
- School administrative experience in public schools.

- Knowing local, state, and federal guidelines governing area of assignment;
- Creating and delivering presentations;
- Promoting positive public relations;
- Using computer software related programs, including Microsoft Office applications;
- Engaging and encouraging communication skills while interacting with supervisors, staff, students, etc. to exchange information.
