Deputy Head of Business Lending

Are you a senior commercial banking professional with experience in a business lending line of business? Have you grown commercial lending businesses? Do you have experience delivering commercial banking solutions through a Wealth Management channel to UHNW and HNW individuals? We’re looking for someone who can:

Product Development:

• Assist the Head of Business Lending in the development of a business loan product suite to serve affluent individuals that are business owners
• Oversee key aspects of the business loan initiative design and implementation through pilot and broad launch through the UBS Global Wealth Management (GWM) Americas channel
• Assist the Head of Business Lending in the hiring and management of a new business banking team within the Structured Lending Group of GWM Banking Americas including both origination and underwriting staff
• Work with the selected fintech vendor for the delivery of small-balance business banking loans through an online UBS branded application and approval platform
• Work with key personnel and business partners needed to ensure the successful launch of the business lending initiative.
• Drive the procurement of new end-to-end systems to deliver business loan products to our wealth management clients and prospects

Ongoing:

• Identify and serve the unique business lending needs of wealth management clients
• Position, package, price and place business loan products within the broader product mix of GWM Banking Americas
• Champion business lending leads, opportunities and deals through the developed process as a first-line leader on the origination/underwriting team
• Understand customer, competitive and company context and environment
• Partner with key sales partners to develop best in class client and Advisor facing materials
• Challenge and improve processes, policies, capabilities
• Key partners include but not limited to

o Marketing
o Finance & Analytics
o Operations
o Credit Risk Control
o Vendor Management
o Technology

• Assist in the management of the product life cycle from beginning to end

You’ll be a member of the Structured Lending Team within the HNW Lending and Banking Services Group. We develop and deliver new loan products for our Wealth Management clients and prospects.

You are a candidate with:

• 10-15 years of experience including strong or significant exposure to business lending origination, underwriting and execution in a commercial bank
• Experience working with business lending systems platforms
• Experience in wealth management or serving high net worth customers
• Experience in new product development
• Experience working with key partners including marketing, legal, compliance, risk, finance, technology and operations is preferred.
• Master of Business Administration preferred
• Ability to demonstrate positive initiative and leadership and train and develop junior talent
• Ability to problem solve and manage issues through to resolution
• Excellent communications and collaborate skills to work with and gain the confidence of cross-functional colleagues across all legal entities
