Directly manage the collections functions and staff of Congressional Federalâs Loan Servicing & Collections department for our consumer and home equity loan portfolios. Responsibilities will include maintaining current working knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to Collections and Lending, including FDCPA, FCRA, FACTA, TCPA and fair lending regulations, and management and control of operations to ensure compliance with these laws and regulations.
Manages the operations of the collections department and staff. Motivates develops, trains, and monitors employees. Manages and coordinates the workflow and daily functionality of the collections area. Ensures department goals are met within established levels.
Manage third party vendors engaged in collection and recovery activities on behalf of, and in the name of, the Credit Union. Responsible for vendor management and oversight, including execution of quality control plans and annual reviews.
Manages, and performs, necessary activities on accounts including contacting delinquent accounts through appropriate means, taking appropriate actions to cure delinquencies, analyzing financial situations of members, managing collateral from repossession through liquidation, and bankrupt account management. Reviews and approves, denies, or modifies collection recommendations from subordinates.
In coordination with Director, develops and modifies collections policies and procedures to remain in compliance with legislation, regulations, and other legal developments that affect collection responsibilities.
Assists the Director, Loan Servicing & Collections with overall management of the department including reporting and vendor management and provides input and expertise in support of the departmentâs strategic goals and objectives.
Support the establishment of management tracking and reporting of collection department activity and metrics to enhance the transparency and efficiency of collections activity. Responsible for the preparation of the month end reports pertaining to delinquency, and for year end 1099 C reporting to the IRS in conjunction with Information Services.
Experience
At least five years of related experience with at least three of those years being in a supervisory or management role
with responsibilities similar to this position.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
A four year college degree is preferred.

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth
dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive
and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating,
influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.
Other Skills
Must be able to read, comprehend and interpret guidelines, regulations and laws related to loan servicing and
collections. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of real estate loss mitigation and collections processes is a plus. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively across departments and levels of staff and management to solve problems and improve operations is desired.
