Community: The incoming City Manager will find Paola a vibrant, warm and welcoming community with exciting potential for growth and development. Paola also faces challenges typical of cities its size in maintaining aging infrastructure and retaining quality workforce in a competitive environment.

Organization: The governing body is comprised of five members, including mayor. Council members are elected from each of the four City Wards who serve two-year terms. The Mayor is elected from the city at large and serves for a two-year term. The City if a full-service city (no electric or gas systems), with approximately 56 full-time employees and the annual operation budget of $15.1 million-providing police, fire, public works, parks, water supply and treatment, wastewater collection/treatment services, refuse collection and recycling program.

Salary Range: $115,000 – $130,000 depending upon qualifications and experience. Included is a full range of benefits including deferred compensation, cell phone, car allowance, health, dental and group life insurance, 10 paid holidays, accrued paid vacation and sick leave.

Education & Experience: The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration or a related field, at least five plus year’s local government management experience or any combination of skills, education and experience. A Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) is preferred. Working knowledge of local government finance and budget, along with the ability to effectively engage employees and the community, are considered vital attributes.
