Sage Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, integrative thinker for an important role as head of the US Commercial Operations function. The Vice President US Commercial Operations is a core partner with the organization’s sales and account management, brand marketing, market access and patient support teams. The role is accountable for leading across teams of employees in US Commercial Operations in the following areas: decision support and advanced analytics, training and development, marketing operations, and field support and operations.

The VP of US Commercial Operations will develop people, processes, information, and operations in support of the launch of ZULRESSO and the emerging portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads the US Commercial Operations functions. This a second line leadership role with responsibilities that include training, marketing and field force support and operations, and decision support and advanced analytics.
  • Core contributor to the development of the US Commercial and Brand Plans with accountability for execution and business impact as a member of the US Commercial Leadership Team.
  • Determines aligned strategy, vision, and direction and allocation of resources and funds across functions within US Commercial Operation in support of launch and pipeline products
  • Oversees budget across departments in US Commercial Operations
  • Collaborates with the Marketing, Sales, Market Access and Patient Services to develop high quality services, effective processes and operational support.
  • Directs the management and development of large-scale US commercial operations projects and oversee the evolution of capabilities creating costs effective quality operations and services for: business analysis and performance management, investment decision and ROI, incentive compensation, CRM, training and skills set development, promotional review, internal and external meetings/events, data warehouses and reporting
  • Responsible for setting the strategic vision and capability roadmap to deliver insights and analytics requirements and drive the use of best in class insights and analytics methods and tools
  • Builds leads the decisions support and advanced analytics capabilities including: commercial insights, analytics and operations capabilities including team, infrastructure and processes
  • Provide leadership and oversight across commercial workflows to produce quality and timely commercial services, addressing issues related to prioritization, demand planning, vendor management and quality delivery
  • Final check for forecasting outputs prior to review by US Commercial LT

Qualifications


Basic Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree; preferably
  • 15+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience working for a biopharmaceutical company or other relevant industry (e.g., management consulting, market research, brand management, commercial operations); including rare diseases


Preferred Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., MBA, PhD)
  • Strong biopharma commercial acumen and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Successful experience in second line leadership roles which includes multiple functions in commercial
  • Experience developing and applying various research techniques and secondary analysis to inform business decisions
  • Ability to manage, prioritize and lead numerous teams and high impact projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change, risk, and uncertainty (ambiguity) and act decidedly with incomplete or imperfect information
  • Extensive experience coaching and developing leaders and teams
  • Demonstrated ability to align and influence laterally and vertically; ability to motivate teams, and maintain high levels of respect for and from peers
