Vice President of Engineering

The VP of Engineering will lead and coordinate the development, direction, and execution of software development for our ecommerce platform, PipingRock.com. Reporting directly to the President, you will be responsible for building the culture and structure of our technology team to increase quality and speed of work to make PipingRock.com better than the competition.

Roles & Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Oversee management of our ecommerce platform across desktop, mobile and app
• Lead team of 40+ associates including Programmers, QA’s, BA’s, PM’s, and other technology associates
• Hire the best talent and manage team growth domestically and internationally
• Coordinate the development of technology between programming, operations, merchandising, and marketing teams.
• Build an effective organizational structure to improve scalability, accountability, speed, and output quality throughout our technology team
• Implement a repeatable and reliable process for development of projects to balance business needs with speed and quality of work
• Ensure the team uses best practices, methodologies, and tools to increase performance and efficiency of software development and deployment
• Constantly reevaluate the department with managers and the team to assess function, process, and system improvements
• Build out analytics, data, and KPI monitoring significantly and ensure the organization is built to scale
• Align priorities with the business to maximize focus on the highest-returning initiatives based on time, cost, quality and impact
• Reduce scope of technology projects to balance business goals with feasibility and implementation needs
• Monitor technological advancements to drive continuous system and development improvement
• Work with regulatory and legal departments to ensure systems and processes are in compliance with regulations
• Report progress to the management team

Requirements

To qualify for this position, your background must include:

• Experience managing teams of 40+ people; management of remote teams is a strong plus
• 15+ years of experience in technology, ideally including at least 5+ at VP or equivalent level
• Experience hiring technology talent, building teams, and implementing processes
• Expertise directly or indirectly managing cloud computing/databases; AWS experience is a strong plus
• In-depth understanding of software project lifecycle: gathering requirements, analysis and architecture, design, development, release and version control, testing, deployment management
• Ecommerce or website experience is required
• Solid communication skills and ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills
• Entrepreneurial and hands-on to be flexible and resourceful
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects effectively
• Ability to commute daily to Bohemia, NY office
