looking for a high performing innovative Vice President of Global Engineering to
bring to market and create breakthrough safety technology including wearable
devices and SAAS solutions to meet our vision of ending death in the workplace
by 2050.
This
role will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s engineering
activities including hardware, software, automation, and manufacturing. Focus
will be on the operations and engagement of the engineering team as a cohesive
unit, including the strategy and innovation of simultaneous projects;
delivering product designs to agreed specifications within time and budget
constraints, and the fostering of innovative solutions to cater to internal and
external customer needs.
Organization Structure:
This
position will be located in Pittsburgh, PA reporting directly to the Senior
Vice President and General Manager of Industrial Scientific.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish and share standards, methods and practices
intended to maximize the potential of our current infrastructure and is a
key leader in identifying, acquiring, and implementing new equipment and
techniques to meet the everchanging challenges of our market.
Establish
the company’s technical vision and lead all aspects of the company’s
execution of best-in-class safety products and innovative package
management solutions.
Collaborate
with other members of the executive management team to align departmental
strategy and direction with the overall goals of the organization globally.
Possess
a comprehensive understanding of the market and the technical
implementation to speak to feasibility versus opportunity of company direction
and pivot appropriately.
Formalize
the company’s product development process that includes new product
strategy from conception to market that will ensure a continued flow of
new and innovative products.
Prioritize
and direct engineering schedule – balancing the creation of new
functionality, immediate needs of existing customers, and augmentation and
management of architecture and infrastructure.
Drive
an architecture that facilitates quality and a process that enforces it
Create
a global engineering community where standards are implemented and
maintained, best practices are shared, and new innovative ideas are
implemented in the spirit of continuous improvement.
Improving
product launch capabilities: efficiency, productivity, adherence to
requirements, etc. through direct influence on team and process and cross
functional influence with all stakeholders
Ensure
compliance with design controls, internal company’s SOP’s and all
regulatory/quality requirements.
Conduct
research on emerging technologies in support of systems development
efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness
and systems flexibility.
Drive
enhancements to product performance by supporting manufacturing and
quality functions to address field, production and warranty issues and
update and enhance product designs as required.
Attract
and retain key engineers who understand business direction and how
individual work enables performance and aligns with the company’s vision through
meaningful work and career development. Develop innovative product
experimentation with a willingness to iterate and progress technological
development through frequent and fast failures which lead to product
disruption and success.
Qualifications
Required:
BS degree in, EE/ME/CS/SW
Engineering
10-15 years’ experience leading
corporate engineering function
Experience in leading cross
functional engineering teams that bring to market broad solutions that
incorporate device hardware, cloud software, and services
Experience in engineering
products with complex global regulatory compliance requirements
Deep understanding of both
rapid hardware and software development methodologies including agile
development practices
Expertise in the latest web,
mobile, database, IoT, and cloud/SAAS technologies Strong leadership skills; able
to create a vision, strategy and drive execution by engaging cross
functional teams
Experience with focus on technical,
market, and customer needs
