The Sourcing Manager is responsible for managing the overall Site Procurement organization – including Direct Raw Materials, Indirect Products and Services, as well as Capital and Engineering responsibilities within Mt. Vernon, Indiana. This role is primarily responsible for providing value-added services in procurement and delivery of goods and services to Site customers, while ensuring alignment and collaboration between Site and HQ groups.
Job Responsibilities:
Operational
- Responsible for leading high-dollar value procurement (individual project range from
- Complies with all Security guidelines, SHE regulations, and current GMP required by the job function.
- Provides vision and strategic direction to Mt. Vernon, Indiana Procurement and to managers/professional teams working cohesively at the manufacturing Site.
- Ensures productivity and focus is maintained at the Site (even in cases of ambiguity).
- Establishes and maintains communication and linkages with Category Leaders (at the sites as well as HQ); provides appropriate feedback on service and quality issues.
- Understands the methodology, processes, and guidelines for conducting and implementing an efficient/effective sourcing project that is aligned with global policies and procedures.
- Identifies and develops criteria to monitor procurement performance using financial fundamentals.
- Leads or assists on resolution of key supplier issues, new products launches, risk mitigation, and site-specific productivity initiatives.
- Understands and identifies cost drivers and opportunities to reduce costs for site transactions.
- Responsible for generation, consolidation, and submission of budget standard costs, projections, and occasional strategic plans for the Mt. Vernon, Indiana Site.
- Develops effective relationships with key suppliers that build mutual respect, trust, and drives performance in a manner consistent with the AZ Core Behaviors.
- Achieves alignment with department heads to ensure purchasing is involved at an early stage to influence buying decisions and optimize negotiating leverage; assumes a proactive role on the Site Leadership Team to ensure that all of site spend is being monitored by purchasing and/or subject to the disciplined strategic procurement methodology; ensures compliance with all applicable policies.
- Facilitates the implementation of cross-site commodity agreements with other network sites across the world, where applicable, and conducts benchmarking periodically (master agreements).
Quality
- Executes work in compliance with GMPs, Site policies, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Immediately reports issues that could impact product quality and delivery of products to customers.
Safety
- Maintains a safe work environment by following all Health and Safety policies and procedures; immediately reports potential unsafe conditions to supervision.
- Uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering
Required:
- 5 to 7 years’ experience required, with at least 3 to 5 years in purchasing/materials management or in positions directly related to the procurement needs of the site customer base (i.e. sales and marketing, research, finance support groups, engineering, manufacturing, etc.).
- Strong customer service skills, with excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills; these skills are necessary to successfully establish the new role of procurement within the organization and to meet the procurement needs of the customer.
- Must have proactive, creative, and analytical approach to continuous improvement in delivering procurement services and identifying new opportunities.
- Ability to work with people in diversified environments (i.e. cultures, functions, and unique reporting relationships).
- Ability to communicate effectively within a matrix organization.
- Strong understanding of business operational processes, procedures, workflows, and business operations.
- Experience selling effective ideas, services, and solutions to others across different organizational levels and functions.
- Ability to respond appropriately to unanticipated situations.
- Understanding of systems and their implications to the operation and strategic impact on the business.
- Willing to travel within and outside the US when required.
Desirable:
- Master’s degree preferred.
