ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned. A teammate in this position must have the ability to:

  • Recommend distribution operating budget along with capital expenditure requirements. Effectively administer, monitor, control & develop the system & policies necessary to achieve effective distribution expense control.
  • Accountable for compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations governing our Distribution Centers and Transportation Departments by monitoring implementation and practice to ensure compliance.

  • Develops and communicates logical, convincing justifications, including lessons learned, that build commitment and support for one’s perspectives and initiatives. Ensures strategies and change initiatives are communicated in a clear and compelling way.   • Develop excellent business relationship with customers, understanding their needs through frequent communication with their senior leadership and internal McLane Sales Team.
  • Develops talent: emphasize performance management, employee development and promotion potential and succession planning. Build diversity and enhance bench strength. Mentors, guides and sponsors the development of key talent.
  • Work closely with the Division President, Controller and Section Sales Manager for continuous learning of the organization.
  • Stay abreast of current business and economic news that may impact the McLane Division or Company.
  • Motivate, influence and support others to accomplish team and organizational goals.
  • Have a thorough understanding of division financials, customer contracts and lease agreements.
  • Accountable for compliance with Federal, State and local regulations governing our Distribution Centers and Transportation Departments by monitoring implementation and practice to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain safe/secure environment for teammates. Adherence to safety programs, procedures and policies.
  • Have a complete understanding and adherence to company policies, procedures and Best Practices.
  • Responsible to ensure productive Distribution Center and Transportation Department by continually monitoring key indicators are achieving desired productivity goals to ensure company’s overall profits.
  • Demonstrates creativity and strength in the face of change, obstacles and adversity. Adapts to compelling demands and shifting priorities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
A teammate in this position must:

  • Have a BA/BS degree required.
  • Have ten or more years experience demonstrating progressive responsibility within Supply Chain functions.
  • Have excellent analytical skills and solid business acumen.
  • Have proven leadership skills, proactive in attacking challenges and ability to be confident in setting and achieving stretch goals through leading and motivating others.
  • Be knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Be experienced in leading distribution and transportation staffs with a background in hiring, training, motivating and resolving employee relations issues.
  • Have effective communication skills. Crisp and clear. Informs and directs appropriately on both verbal and written forms.
  • Be a strategic thinker with an ability to translate strategy into actionable tactics; able to maintain a strategic perspective while supporting others in driving for results.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills. Able to maintain and develop top-level, internal and external relationships.
  • Be skilled at attracting, retaining and motivating the team. A good judge of character.
  • Possess detailed understanding of financial statements and resulting cost implications.
  • Have the ability to identify financial issues and provide cost-effective solutions.
  • Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, vendors and teammates.
  • Have a minimum of 4 years planning, analytical and/or reporting experience, preferably in positions of increasing responsibility.
  • Be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The environment encompasses all areas of Division Office, Distribution Center and Transportation.
  • This position requires the teammate to work inside majority of the time.
  • This position may require working in hot and cold temperature extremes, exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, noise, potentially harmful chemicals, solvents and components, and working in close to proximity to other teammates.
