Storable is looking for an 18 month Contract Scrum Master to help facilitate our software development process. You will collaborate with cross functioning, highly skilled engineering teams in a fast moving environment where everyone’s common goal is to deliver outstanding software while having fun. As a Scrum Master at Storable you must be passionate about communication, group dynamics, and coaching. You are not afraid to raise issues and drive change to remove impediments from your team. You should be comfortable working with more than one team in an open-ended environment where roles are flexible, everything is changing and communication is essential.
What you’ll do everyday:
- Facilitate sprint planning and task definition, sprint execution, daily scrum, sprint review, and retrospectives.
- Deeply understand scrum practices as prescribed by the scrum guide, and identify when it is appropriate to step outside of those guardrails for the betterment of the team.
- Ensure teams are regularly looking for opportunities to improve and try new things.
- Mentor/coach scrum teams and the Product Owner on backlog refinement including the best practices for defining the minimally viable product, relative sizing, and acceptance criteria definition and explain the importance of each.
- Mentor/coach the team with creation and maintenance of scrum team artifacts including but not limited to the Definition of Ready and Definition of Done.
- Ensure that Agile-related reporting – such as burndowns, sprint health and velocity – are relevant, transparent, and add value.
- Foster cross-team coordination as a responsibility of the teams, gather feedback and improve team performance and output.
- Actively identify areas of improvement and conceptualize methods on how to be more efficient.
- Create a self-organizing, learning, and teaching culture around Agile best practices across the organization.
What you need to bring to the table:
- 5+ years experience working on Scrum teams as a Scrum Master, preferably across multiple teams.
- Experience with Agile adoption and change management.
- You have coached others and can teach others to do the same. You enjoy collaborating with, learning from, and teaching others so we all become better.
- You are passionate about high-quality software development, the people, process, and tools that support it.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication with a deep understanding of group dynamics. You are effective in many types of communication and are driven to keep others well informed and aligned with everything you are doing.
- You set goals without being asked and meet or renegotiate those goals without reminders. You pride yourself on nothing falling through the cracks.
- You naturally identify process inefficiencies and are driven to solve those issues by putting simple systems in place. You are fast to respond and people know they can count on you to follow through.
- You are a people person, naturally liked by everyone. You connect easily with a wide variety of styles. People tend to want to pull you into work with them or drop by to get your input. You naturally build community and relationships that make the work environment fun.
